Wingsurfing, Windfoiling, Wingfoiling, Wing SUP / Duotone battens
« on: October 28, 2019, 09:32:41 AM »
I have a broken batten on my foil wing. Can I use fiberglass to glue it together? What 's the best solution here? Do I even need them? Replacements aren't available yet from duotone which kinda sucks  >:( Thanks!

So this past Sunday I had my 5th time on the foil with the wing. Winds were approximately 12-18mph from E. I was riding jl 6.5 Flying V with gofoil Maliko 280 and 5m Duotone. My first two attempts were funny, violent and full of spectacular crashes. But by the end of my second attempt I managed to fly for like 30 sec or so. Things started to click. I have had no prior foiling/wind sport experience. So, on my last attempt I am somewhat comfortable flying on my regular side (port tack) but feel out of control and really wobbly in my switch stance (starboard tack). Trying to figure out proper foot placement as well get as much practice as I can. Excited 😆 . Words of wisdom always welcome, thanks!

Gear Talk / Help me decide on my next downwind board
« on: April 24, 2019, 04:56:39 AM »
I am on the market for my next dw board. My two choices are coming down to rail or downtown (flat deck) - both can be had for a reasonable money. Where I live in SW Florida we don't have much of downwinding going on but a lot of chop and quartering wind conditions. If you had experiences with any of those boards - tell me please what you liked,  what you didn't like. Thanks.

Maliko run has been so so good for the past few days. Crazy fast speeds, no ground swell so no worrying about being tagged by a two story wave on the reef. Downwind heaven. Sharing stoke with Gregg (covesurfer), Jeremy Riggs, Sharon Look, Lana :)

Last Wednesday me and Yuval (burchas) did a downwinder from Sanibel Island to Bonita Springs. Winds were NW 25-32 mph. 3-4ft seas. Wind direction was spot on with swell a little off to the side. We still had a great time. Thanks for watching :)

Downwind and Racing / Naples Downbreezer
« on: February 07, 2018, 05:25:17 AM »
So this past Sunday we had S winds around 15-20 mph. It was a great opportuinity to get on the water for some mellow action. Beautiful sunny day with temps in the 70s. Water was around 63F. I started on my allstar and somewhere midrun switched to fanatic falcon (courtesy of James - FloridaWindSup). I never tried falcon before but it has proven to be an amazing dw shape for our conditions.

Downwind and Racing / SW Florida Downwinder
« on: December 11, 2017, 06:34:58 AM »
Me and FloridaWindSUP did a downwinder on Saturday. Our part of the world is very calm normally and we aren't blessed by the winds. So any time we have a wind above 20mph we are lucky. So this past Saturday we had cold front coming through and wind forecast called for 20-30mph with 5-6 ft seas. When we got to the beach the wind was crap probably 10mph and I was sort of skeptical but James talked me into going to our launch point and just going for downbreezer, hoping that the winds will kick in. The worst that could happen - 12 miles of flatwater paddling :)  We went and it was miraculously good. Started out in the rain and slow wind but then at mile marker 5 the wind really started to blow. I felt it was blowing well above 30 with mountain swells coming through. Some of the drops were intense. I was on my SIC Bullet V2 and James was on his Fanatic Falcon. Unfortunately my best moments were ruined by droplets on the GoPro lens. Tried lots of things but nothing seems to work from keeping droplets forming. So if you have a solution that works for you please share.

So this week in Florida is pretty good. We have quite a bit of wind. 5 of us ventured onto some dw paddling in Biscayne Bay. Good bumps all the way. Wind was around 25-30mph. Riding my allstar for this one with 9 fcs fat boy - quickly becoming my favorite dw combo.
