Wind Powered / Mast foot stuck in fanatic fly
« on: June 04, 2016, 08:18:11 PM »
I just tried windsurfing for the first time today. We screwed the mast foot into the hole in the a Fanatic Fly board. We now can't get it back out. I think the female end in the board is spinning. I can't tighten it, or get it out, but it spins. Any idea how to get it out? I assume that I'll break the fiberglass if I just pull it straight out.

Wind Powered / Adding a sail to fanatic fly11'
« on: September 09, 2014, 06:44:09 PM »
I want to add sail to 11' Fantic Fly. I have never windsurfed. I live in panama city, Florida. I'm about 6' and 200 lbs. what size sail should I be looking at?- if I want to just sail versus playing in the surf?  Is there a standard size hole for the masts? As you see i know nothing about sails. How does the fly sail compares to the Allwave?

Gear Talk / Kids adjustable paddle
« on: July 01, 2014, 08:17:37 PM »
My daughter is 11 years and really loving her paddle board. She is about 4'9" tall. I'd like to get her a nice paddle that is her size but one that she can use quiet a while as she grows. I looked at QB micro fly all fiberglass but it does not adjust very much. $189. The Rivera Sprout is $250 but is very adjustable. Any other good choices of adjustable paddles that will go down to her size now.... About 65 inches.  I know most people don't want to spend a lot for a kids paddle, but it seems that the kids that only weigh 60 lbs ( my daughter) would benefit the most from a lite paddle.

Gear Talk / Trac-rac versus Thule truck racks
« on: June 30, 2014, 08:49:14 PM »
I can get the trac rac at lowes for about half the price of the Thule truck rack system. What is the down side to the trac rack. We have a condo and it's difficult to get our three boards up the elevator and walkway into the condo. I would like to leave them on the truck overnight. The parking lot is fairly lit and there is a security guard on the property. What would be the most secure way to leave them on the truck?

Gear Talk / Vent plugs vs no vent
« on: June 29, 2014, 09:08:12 AM »
It looks like the 2013 Fanatic Fly does not have a vent plug. Am I correct. How is the construction different in boards with and without plugs. Fanatic is a great brand, but is having a vent better?

Gear Talk / What size fanatic fly?
« on: June 18, 2014, 07:25:35 PM »
New to forum. I live in panama city, fl. 6'0" and 200 lbs. I'm interested in SUP'ing  in the bay for fitness, would like to learn to surf our waves ( usually small) and am interested in the fly's ability to windsurf in lower wind conditions. I have never surfed, and only rented SUP a couple of times.  I know that no board is perfect for everything. I would pick the board out mostly for the bay and the small waves. (80 percent of the time....... I think) Which size fanatic fly would be the Best for me and why.  I willing to struggle in the beginning,  because i don't want to get another board for awhile. One other thing- I have limited range of motion in my right ankle because of a bad break.
10.5' by 31 Vol. 171
11' by 32 vol 217
11.5 by 33 vol 236
I think all of these come with a box for a center fin ( but no daggerboard)

I've been watching for a good used board...... But have not really found one yet. I will demo them soon.... Just need some experienced guidance.
