Has anyone that's ridden both of these boards and is willing to offer up a comparison? I plan to purchase one of them at 135L, mostly for winging on an Armstrong CF 2050 foil. Armstrong DW is 8'3", 21.5", 135 L and the KT is 8'4", 22", 135L. I currently ride a Naish 110L foilboard and I'm looking for something with more pitch stability and earlier takeoff. I'm pretty comfortable on a foil, but have only connected a handful of jibes. I also have significant paddle surf experience. While I plan to use the board for winging, I may experiment with foil surfing and boat wakes. I weigh ~195lb. From what I can tell, the advantage of the KT is that it may release from the water a little easier. The Armstrong may be built a little tougher, though. It sounds like the Kalama Barracuda is still the best design, but I hear the foil tracks are too far back for Armstrong foils. Plus, they max out at 111L which doesn't sound like a ton of fun. I've played the game of chasing small boards across disciplines and I always seem to regret it. Any thoughts about the Armstrong and KT boards? Really appreciate the help!

Quick foil comparison question. Anyone ridden both the Slingshot 99cm and Armstrong 2400 front wings? I currently ride the Slingshot 99cm and love it. I've tried the 84 cm, but just can't get it to fly as regularly. I think I just still need a massive wing at my stage. I've gotten pretty good with straight line flying back and forth so I'm now working on jibes. However, the Slingshot 99cm just doesn't seem to turn and maintain speed. Likely user error, but I may try a higher performance system to see if that helps. I'd like to get the Armstrong 2400 set up, but I DO NOT want to end up with a wing that is harder to get up. I'm just now finally comfortable pumping up on foil and do not intend to move to a more difficult wing. Will the Armstrong 2400 fly as easily as the Slingshot 99cm? Anyone have experience with both?

Headed to Santa Monica next week for a wedding and want to slip out a couple mornings to surf. I plan to bring my fish prone board and understand that it will be a zoo. Any intel to make the most of it? I'm staying close to the Santa Monica pier and I've heard that the pier and Bay street are good places to try. Any thoughts on these areas? More importantly, any intel on tides to target? I'm coming from the east coast and mostly want to cross another surf break off my list. What are the best times, tides, and locations to score a couple decent waves with minimal crowds? Thanks!

I've had great success coating foil bolts with lanolin and teflon tape. I rarely dissemble my foil, even after saltwater use. Every few months seems to suffice. I ran out the manufacturer-supplied lanolin and need to buy some more. Anyone have a good brand they like? Preferably on Amazon? Even better if it came in a tube instead of a tub. Thanks for the tips!

I have a slingshot Fsup setup with an 84cm front wing. Always tough to get the front wing attached as the bolts arent quite long enough to get through fuselage and into mast cap. I can usually make it work, though. The problem is my new 99 cm wing. I CANNOT get the bolts through to attach to the mast cap. Anyone else have this problem? Any tips? I'm at the beach, wind is pumping, and I can't get the front wing on!

Anyone tried this to mount a foil on a paddleboard using this? https://foilmount.com/products/foilmount-standardI'm sure you lose a ton of performance, but if it works, it seems like it could give you a stable platform to begin foiling.

Hey, guys. I'm headed to Newport Beach for Thanksgiving to visit family. We'll be near 52nd St. My brother and I would like to rent a couple surfboards. He doesn't paddlesurf, so I think I'm going to prone surf with him. Any suggestions on where to rent boards? Both of us are looking for a ~7.5' funboard shape to cover all conditions, though, it would be nice to have some options if the conditions allow. Also, any suggestions on friendly breaks? Thanks guys! Excited to surf California.

Im researching my next board purchase and I think Ive narrowed it down to a 9 Allwave or 810 Stubby. JimK has been a huge help in narrowing down the choices and sizes, but I wanted to tap into the hive to see what others think.
A bit about me: Im 511, 185 lb and in pretty good shape. Weekend warrior with about 6 years of paddlesurfing experience. I surf weak knee-high to shoulder waves in South Carolina. I have a 2016 106 Naish Nalu and a 2014 95 Naish Mana. I like the Nalu because it is pretty stable, gets into waves early, and is fast when trimming on the wave. I like the Mana in slightly bigger or more powerful waves because you can step back on the tail pad and really crank a turn. The Mana is pretty corky in the line up, though. I also think the Mana is a bit big for me. I usually end up on the Nalu since its easier to catch waves.
Im looking for something that is somewhat stable in the line up and gets into waves early. Mostly, I want something that can allow me to get more vertical on the wave when riding off the tail, but can still be trimmed from the middle in weaker/smaller waves.
Everyone seems to love the Allwave, but there isnt a lot of info about the Stubby. Has anyone ridden both? Any info on either board is much appreciated.
Let me end with a quick plug for JimK. He has been a huge help in this process and his prices are great. He helped me with Kenalu paddle purchases in the past and his advice is spot on!

My old 4/3 is leaking pretty badly and I'm in the market for a new one. O'Neill wetsuits seem to fit me well, so I'm focusing on those. 2 questions: 1) Is there a different brand that I should be considering? 2) Can anyone decipher the complicated O'neill wetsuit lineup? There are several tiers and I can't. for the life of me, figure out the differences. Anyone have experience with the different tiers and whether the more expensive suits are worth the money? Thanks!

Any tips on how to get more speed out of my thruster setup while surfing? I sometimes end up stuck in the whitewater and have to paddle to catch up to the unbroken wave front. I can generate a little speed by pumping my board a little, trying to stay up on the rails, but I think some technique tweaks will allow me to increase my speed. Any tips? I have my center fin all the way forward in the fin box to keep my board loose and turn-y.

I have an old 11' Bic Jungle board that I use for cruising the shallow marshes. It has a single 10" fin that makes the board track really well. Unfortunately, it's a little long for some parts of the shallow marsh. How short of a fin can I install that would still allow the board to track well? I'm not racing or going long distances, but I do need it to go straight.

Hey, all! Purchased a 2013 Naish Mana 10' GS last fall for small wave surfing here in Charleston, SC. Really like it, but the 2014 model looks pretty sweet. Is it worth upgrading to the 2014? I can probably sell my old board for a good amount since it is in near perfect condition. I'm 185 lb, 6' and really like the stability of my current board. Sounds like the 2014 model dumps a lot of volume, but makes up for it in width. If I'm going to do it, I need to pull the trigger soon, so no time to demo. Let me know what you think. Particularly interested in any insight from those who have ridden both models. Big thanks!

Anyone from CHS on the forum? Thought I'd get a thread together to discuss local conditions.
