Sessions / Back Swell in Maine
« on: August 28, 2019, 05:04:06 PM »
Baby Huey delivered a nice surprise in Maine on a back swell from the low that went to Nova Scotia.

Jarvis killed it on one of his Foote customs, and I caught a couple of bombs on my SMIK 8'4" HipTwin. I also learned to swim.

Pleasantly surprised that the small SMIK was working for me..

SUP Gear Reviews / Newly Acquired / On Order / SMIK Hipster Twin Landed
« on: August 14, 2019, 02:18:58 PM »
Just took delivery of my SMIK Hipster Twin from Scotty. Dims are 8'4" x 30.75 x 122 liters.

Scotty flew from Perth to Thailand to Kiev to Queens. Had a fun drive from RI to JFK.

He was stuck in customs a long time. Lessee a shifty looking Ozzie with 12 sups from Russia.

He rolled out a massive pile which we put in my truck and drove to his Dodge Red Ram rental.
I only got to keep one.

Scotty took some to his mate on the Island, and is now busting a move to Jacksonville.

Rode mine today in crap. Sweet none the less.

And if image resizer doesn't  fark up we have some evidence.

Sessions / Tanker Waves in Rhode Island
« on: June 04, 2019, 07:16:49 PM »
Went for a FW paddle at Conimicut Point in Warwick RI

SE onshore on the south side. Glassy perfection on the north side.

But wait there are long lines of knee to waist lines rolling in.

My 12'6" 404 V3 is not designed for bumps to say the least. Stand back and feel the endless glide.

My buddy Mark confirmed there are tanker waves once in a while. He knew some dudes who got the skinny on schedules and would go there to surf them.

Figure eight pic from my Garmin. Paddle into the waves, turn glide, and repeat.

Crazy loony gift from Baby Huey!

Sessions / No Leash, No PFD, No Heart Monitor Strap!
« on: August 25, 2018, 12:21:33 PM »
There was a race in Gloucester today. Woke up and my antique carcass refused. Leave early to compete in longer course cuz I have a 14' board. Thanks but no thanks.

There is a beautiful spot in Danvers that I went to for peace and quiet.

And just for fun, no leash, no pfd, no heart rate monitor strap no nuttin'! Well I did not skinny sup, but this was the first time in four years that I went full on minimalist.

Big Fun in the New World!

Rumor has it the Go-Go went 5.4 mph. Sounds suspect, but only the Shadow and Kamoali'i know for sure!🏄🦈🌈

Downwind and Racing / 404 Go-Go Finarama!
« on: March 24, 2018, 12:25:07 PM »
Last summer I borrowed a 404 LTD and a 404 V3. Ended up buying a 14' Go-Go after Danny informed me that it is the most stable of the line. Designed as a BOP style board that is fast, but also surfs well.

I competed in four races last year on it and had some decent results. Have paddled all winter #livinginadrysuit and have finally settled on a fin that is stable and fast. It has a big skull on it and was designed by Larry Allison.

I deal with crazy boat wakes, seaplanes, tidal voodoo chap and have crappy balance as a result of my SCA and more damage than Evel K.

Upright fins that are faster in clean conditions seem to "hunt" in DW and chop. Low volume racer fins suck in chop. This monster works for me!

Sessions / AMAZING 0CEAN MOTION!!!
« on: October 09, 2017, 10:30:13 AM »
On August 23 my King's Accelerator was munched by a big landlord!

Couple of days later I picked up my Infinity New Deal from Kayadog.

Notorious B-I-G goes big! Oh oh..

Gert, TD 15, Jose, AtlanticCane, Maria have clearly changed the old new board flat spell  juju!

13 Wellfleet, 14 RI, 3 Eastham, and 2 Hull sessions later kinda fried.

Managed to sneak in 12 FW sessions and the Great Stone Dam Race.

Order New Deals from Kayadog at your own risk!!

About a month ago my King's Accelerator was bitten by a rather large shark.

I donated the board to the Shark Conservancy here in Chatham.

Through a wonderful set of synchronous events I am getting a replacement from Dave Daum at King's and the incredible people at the Shark Conservancy are picking up the tab.

The things that we will do to get a new board! LOL!

Just got some pics from Dave which I am going to post as a tease!

When I get it will do a much more comprehensive review, but I really felt like sharing this unexpected turn of fortune.
