Sessions / Small FL weekend session.
« on: June 09, 2011, 07:05:17 AM »
Much thanks to my brother for getting up early and shooting these two days.  He did a great job considering he was shooting into the sun all morning.  This was a two day session that was not big but fun and clean.  Waves were knee to waist but good times and good people.  The second guy in the session is EastFL.  This guy is killing it on the PSH 96 ripper.  Enjoy!

Gear Talk / T-Rax racks
« on: February 07, 2011, 01:07:42 PM »
I ordered these a couple of weeks ago for my new garage and finally installed them this weekend.  Was not sure if anyone has used then but I contacted the company and they were very professional and supply a great product.  I ended up going with their Longboard Rax as the SUP racks are really meant for longer and bigger SUPs.  Since all of mine are under 10' the Longboard one worked out better as the bars are shorter and easier to walk around (they are at a 15 degree angle) and the spacing is still good with fins on.

The rack is solid aluminum and is very sturdy and strong.  All stainless hardware was included and fit was perfect.  The racks are not cheap (@ $130) but the quality was well worth it IMO.  Here are a couple of photos.  Got 5 boards on the 4 tier rack (shortboard on top top) and it looks great.  Just wanted to post as these guys were great with product, shipping and customer service.

Sessions / Florida FOG session
« on: October 28, 2010, 11:29:08 AM »
Not sure if anyone else got out this am but for not calling for any surf it was probably one of the best days in weeks.  Waist to chest glassy waves with a slight light offshore wind towards the end.  And the fog was crazy!  The drive to the beach was in about 1/8 mile vis and was the same out on the water for most of the am.  Some really great waves today both lefts and rights which were super easy to ride.  And the show by the dolphins was quite a show.  Most were riding the waves and then a couple jumping out to almost head high (while standing on SUP).  I love my 9'4!!! Very cool morning.   ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Gear Talk / PSH 8'6 and 9'4 Wide Rippers
« on: August 10, 2010, 05:55:05 PM »
Hello,  After months and months of waiting my boards finally arrived today.  First impression, they are AMAZING.  The quality of the boards is unbelieveable.  And the boards are LIGHT!  The 8'6 weighed in an 17 and the 9'4 at 18lbs (no pad or fins).

I was not able to get on the water today (super windy) and have to work this week so the on the water stuff will be next week.  but check out the photos below.

The will be my first sub 9' board so I am stoked for that.  Then I was deciding between the 9'2 and 9'4 and ended up going with the 94 because of the thickness.  The 94 is only 4" thick and is very thin throughout.  The nose on the 9'4 is very pulled in and the tail is super thin so this will be a nice board in larger surf with chop/current crappy east coast conditions.  For fins, I will be using a set of the PSH quads as well as a Future set to compare.  If anyone else has some fins ideas I would be interested.

Both boards will be Bag O Pad setup (takes about 2-3hrs a board but i feel is well worth it) and a Dakine tailpad.  The handles on both boards are very deep and are right in the center of the board.  Here's a re a couple of pics, next week I will post of onwater photos and review.  Also,  much thanks to Blueline and Island Surf and Sail for getting these boards down to FL.

Sessions / FL Sunrise Session
« on: November 01, 2009, 11:23:38 AM »
What a great morning.  Nothing really big but clean conditions overall.  The plus to setting our clocks back was everyone else showed up later and it was well worth it.  EastFL got the photo of the day.  Thanks to my brother who shot these.  This was shot with a Nikon D90 which is a great camera.  Quality is amazing.  Yeah water is 76, air was 80, and its November 1st.  I like FL.

Gear Talk / Broke my Kialoa yesterday
« on: August 06, 2009, 02:12:56 PM »
Broke my Kialoa yesterday.  Not sure how it happened, but I have a witness (EastFL).  I really was just paddling to catch a wave and , SNAP!!  There was no previous damage that I could see but it ended my day short.

I got home and took a couple of photos ASAP and sent them off to Kialoa.  With 2hrs I got an email response back from Lisa at Kialoa and said  no problem.  Kialoa can replace the shafts on the paddle so I am good to go.  I just wanted to put out a big THANK YOU to Kialoa.  FIrst off tese are still the best paddles out there IMO.  But what is also important to me is EXCELLENT customer service and that is what Kialoa provides.  Its great that all they have to do is replace the shaft and I will be back in business.

I did not see any other posts about this so this is why I posted this.  I know alot of people here would like to know when these things happen what will the company do.  Well Kialoa I can say has gone above and beyond.  Here are a couple of pics of the paddle.  This was my Shaka Pu'u

Sessions / Florida Session this morning!!!!!
« on: July 24, 2009, 08:49:38 AM »
WOW!  What a great morning.  It was one of those days where you are just so insinc with your gear that you cannot have anything less than a great day.  Waves were glassy and about waist high some chest.  I cannot say enough about my setup today.  PSH 9'2AA with the Lopez SUP Future fins.  If anyone was thinking about getting them.......get them.  They are really fast fins and still let you turn on a dime.  Been getting dialed in on them all week long but today they really worked.

Here are a couple of stills from the video.  Please let me know what you think.  I wish I could have been in that wave a little better but was still good.  I hope everyone else on the East Coast got some photos and / or got out today.  We really have had a great week!!!!!

SUP General / PSH's Stolen in NJ
« on: July 20, 2009, 09:13:13 AM »
I just got a texted from my buddies up in NJ.  The shop up there (Island Surf and Sail) just got 3 PSH boards stolen from the shop.  A blue 9'6Ripper, Red 10'6 WAA and a Teal 11' WAA.  The blue has a mosaic pad on it.  The 10'6 has a white camo deck and the 11' has a gray deck.  I am just apssing along this information as they are not on the forum.  To everyone in the NJ, PA, NY , MD area please kepp a lookout for any of these boards.

On a personnal note, I am really getting kind of sick of this crap.  I came home form my trip (work) a couple of weeks ago and my entire THULE roof rack was ripped off my car,  And yes I had locks, etc.

Here's a photo of the 9'6, hate when things ahppen like this.

Gear Talk / PSH T-Shirts, Sweatshirts, Pads, etc.
« on: June 22, 2009, 01:26:51 PM »
I put this in the gear section since some of it is gear (and clothing).  The east coast PSH guys have some new fitted PSH t-shirts as well as new PSH SUP Pads (they look sweet) and some other things.  Thought I would post a couple of pics.  The T's are not just a Hanes T-Shirt but more of a dress up t-shirt.  They are a slim cut fit (I have some Volcom T's like this and they are very nice shirts) and have more of a fit feel to them.  Just passing the info along as some boys from the shop emailed me these photos today.  And also they have sweatshirts coming in this week.

Sessions / Sunrise Session Video
« on: May 28, 2009, 05:47:03 PM »
Decided to make a new video from the other day.  The waves were really "powerless" and weird ride but was fun.  This was a sunrise session and we were shooting right into the sun so quality was not the best.  It was fun to make but I wish I was riding better.  After doing all the editing I can see every mistake I made throughout.  But please enjoy. A little more mellow music than my last one. And thanks again to my wife who (at 22weeks) is getting up to be at the beach for these early morning sessions and film.   ;D

Gear Talk / PSH 10'6 WAA review
« on: May 15, 2009, 12:31:11 PM »
I was finally able to get on the PSH 10'6WAA so I thought I would post a short review.  Been out on it the past 5 days in everything from flat water to head high surf (today) up in New Jersey.

First off one word describes this board STABLE.  I have owned the PSH 10'6AA so it was nice to campare the two.  The WAA is extremely stable (I am 190lbs) and easy to paddle.  The paddle speed was plenty on the flat water and was great for crusing in the flats (backbays) and on the oceanside.  The baord has plenty of glid and speed yet was still easy to pivot turn around in smaller areas.

In the surf this board is SWEET.  From knee high to head high this board was able to handle everything very well.  Although it is wide, I was still able to go rail to rail without any problems so the extra width was not an issue.   Today the surf was clean but very peaky with alot of broken sections.  I took alot of late drops and was able to accelerate through the closeouts sections and rip turns all over.

This is a great board for someone who wants a stable board, yetwants to progress into the surf.  This is a board that can do it all.  Going to go out tomorrow for some photos to post, and to compare to the PSH 11' (which I will write about tomorrow).

Finally a little durablilty test.  I pulled the board off the rack (chest high) and accidently dropped it onto the pavement.  Only a couple of scratches on the rail.  No dents, or damage.   Very cool board, thanks Blane.

Sessions / Better Than Nothing Video
« on: March 11, 2009, 10:16:23 AM »
I posted some pics from the past couple of days and since I am still on standby at home I decided tomake a video last night.  Nothing great but I think the music really made it turn out well.  All riding except for one really small wave was the past couple of days here in FL.  All was done on the PSH 9'6AA and 9'6Ripper.  Not the most extreme SUPing but they were fun sessions. The quality is down a little as I was not sure how big to make it.  And like the title says, the days were Better Than Nothing. Thanks to Bmaui for helping me upload.  Enjoy! ;D

« on: March 09, 2009, 08:06:34 AM »
Well after spending a weekend at the parents to announce some news, I came home to a descent little session this morning.  Again glassy but the tide was not in my favor.  Knee to waist high and just another surfer out.  But ALOT of fish this morning.  Like the title says, better than nothing.

Sessions / Great monday Morning session
« on: January 26, 2009, 09:58:00 AM »
This is my frist session on almost 3 weeks due to such great snow this winter.  We had a nice knee to waist high day this morning with clam winds for a couple of hours and then the fog came in hard.  Not trying to rub it in to the guys up north, but it was so nice in a L/S Shorty.  Water was 58 and air was 70.  Thanks to my wife MIA for sitting and shooting some videos this morning.  Here are a couple of stills. Oh and board is PSH 9'6AA  ;D
