SUP General / Petition to expand SUP surf area at San Onofre

We're attempting to have the Northern border at Dogpatch expanded to allow access to a bit more of the break that goes unridden the majority of the time by prone surfers. This will also allow our handicapped friends on their wave ski type boards to launch safely in front of the ADA parking spots.

SUP General / Laniakea

After not being back on the North Shore for 6 years and coming this time as a SUPer it was interesting. My normal haunts of Backdoor Pipe and OTW were a bit too "critical" for supping. Laniakea was a different story, however.

Ever since I started supping I imagined it at head high going all the way through with only a couple of people out. Well, that dream came true yesterday and it was even better than I had imagined. That place is MADE for SUP. Now the maxed out days not so much but at manageable size its a dream.

This is getting cut this week. I'll take it to The North Shore in May for a few weeks. Wanted to go a little longer but 9-0 is max length on Alaska Air. Compensated with a little extra width. It kept the right aspect ratio also.

Gear Talk / Best Surf Paddle?

I broke my second Riviera Bump today. Third wave into a great session with nobody out. Pulling hard from a low grip and BAM there it went. Launched me in front of the board then the nose proceeded to nail me in the quad. Out of action for awhile. I don't mean to slam Riv by any means as I like the family that owns the company, GREAT people and great products but I'm ready to go in a different paddle direction. My question is what is everyone's experience with Werner, Quickblade, etc. for surf?

SUP General / Dogpatch RIP

Well as of today the parking at Dogpatch is over. The high tides have rendered the parking well, unparkable. It's so bad that it won't be returning with the sand this summer. Knowing the State, they won't fix it. It'll be interesting to see the outcome.....

Took my broken "Bump" paddle to Riviera to get another one and expected to pay full pop for a new one and they wouldn't hear of it. Replaced it for a nominal cost. Great company for sure.

Events / Dana Point Polynesian Connection Festival Autism Benefit

This Sat at Baby Beach as part of the Festival of Whales. Lots of art, food and beer and Hula show starring the beautiful supsurf-chick and her wahines. Luau at night also but selling out fast. Should be a beautiful day!

SoCal / Trail 6 today

Just pick a peak and enjoy. No people. Glassy, head high. Saw Sano Sup coming when we were leaving. It's just amazing to have this area at our disposal and have everyone jammed into Dogpatch, etc. It's a 3 hour time commitment with the walk but well worth it. Need to see more SUPers there. It was just me and Sup-SurfChick for miles.

Heading up to stay on the beach in Ventura over Xmas and will be very close to C St. and I'm wondering what the SUP vibe is like there. Does anyone surf there or have any input?
