Classifieds / Laird Fire Fish 8 feet 95L Victoria BC or Seattle

SUP Surf Board an 8 foot Laird Fire Fish Board. Great board for someone 180 pounds or less. The nicest thing about it is how light and easy it is to carry. It really helped my balance since even when paddling flat water you have to engage your core and stay ready for surfing. Easy to put on and off the car and even fits inside my hatchback. No repairs done and in good shape. Selling because it barely floats my dad bod anymore and my son likes to paddle with me so I need more volume.

I'm thinking of doing some cross country running to increase my fitness for paddling. Would you recommend 5 or 10 mile racing as a good cross training distance for a downwind/SUP surfer?

Is there an app you use for both Running and SUP? I have an iphone and would like to be able to use one app to plan and time my workouts. Thanks for any suggestions in advance.

SoCal / San Diego May 2-6th bring inflatable or rent surf sup?
« on: March 13, 2015, 06:23:43 PM »
Hi Socal locals.

I'm coming to San Diego for a conference at Hilton San Diego Bayfront May 2-4 and staying for two more days of paddling. Should I bring my inflatable Starboard Astro or rent a surf SUP? Is it easy to rent boards early in the morning, in the harbor?

I would like to paddle every day and I'm used to paddling a busy harbor, we have ferries, recreation boats and seaplanes landing everywhere but locals know best.
Where should I stay on the 5th to catch a day or two of surf?

Thanks for any tips, I googled what I was looking for and got a few tips but local Zoners know.

Gear Talk / Handheld VHF Recommendations
« on: July 03, 2014, 01:22:42 PM »
LaPerouseBay recommended the Icom M72 a couple of years ago. Any more recommendations for a submersible handheld good for downwind run? If you know of a good case that can keep it secure on a camel back strap, that would be great as well.

Looking for something that will keep the Coast Guard from having to check on us every time we downwind.

Thanks!

Gear Talk / SUP Black Friday?
« on: November 28, 2013, 03:17:49 PM »
Any SUP shops having Black Friday sales? I'd sure like to get my hands on Naish Mana 9.5 but it'll take a Black Friday sale to be able to fit buying 3 boards a year in to my budget.
