Downwind and Racing / Hobie CR-1 vs FR-1

The carbon CR-1 lists for $3000 vs $1850 for the fiberglass FR-1. Does anyone know the difference in weight and durability between the two? I'm far from elite so I don't think I need the CR-1 but if it is more durable and much lighter, it might be worth it for long term value.

Saw this vid and it looked way too much fun to pass up. Since I live at the bottom of a hill, I simply had to pick up one of these Loaded Vanguard longboards.

Sessions / Bummer Session

Conditions this morning were ok, nothing special. I surfed alone at a somewhat out of the way spot. The peak was shifting so it made it real hard to be in position. Despite this, I managed to catch a couple good rights. While caught inside, the ragged dorsal fin of a shark popped up right beside me. It didn't look too big but it was right next to me while I was off my board so that was a sign to move on. I was on my board so fast and caught the whitewater in to the beach. After a long hike back up to my car, I found both tires on the driver side flat. Someone punctured them. The car next to mine had both his flat as well. Some people just don't know what to do with their time. It's not like I was invading someones space. I surfed completely solo.

Oh well you win some you lose some. Yesterday, I had a great session with friends at a remote spot that was glassy and well overhead. In the end, I'm happy to be healthy, have good friends, and get to surf.
