WB is an awesome town, and feels like the tropics compared to Maryland in the winter.  Lots of SUP races, when we come for Cold Stroke in January we are often barefoot in boardshorts while those coming from the south are suited up.  Also, Tower 7 and several other restaurants there have some of the best Mexican I have ever had!

Pro Lite split bag is $99 on Amazon right now, I got one, they are super well made if you don't mind a 2-piece race bag. https://www.amazon.com/Pro-Lite-Session-Split-Race-Touring/dp/B00TIXSOLW/ref=sr_1_2_sspa?ie=UTF8&qid=1508370705&sr=8-2-spons&keywords=prolite+sup+bag&psc=1

I am in Maryland too, sorry did not get a chance to meet you while you were here.  Best of luck in RI, and I am glad that SUP and the Zone helped incentivize getting better fast!

Surprising number of Kialoa paddles.  Good to see that many are using good brand all carbon paddles, as opposed to heavy old no-name adjustables.  The ones with carbon paddles make me think they may actually be paddlers, rather than getting pictures from a one-time rental.

Here in Maryland we have two great shapers/makers, Evolve boards by Sandy Deeley and Ron Gossard (Ron one of the fastest East Coast guys by the way), and Solace boards by Richard Price.  They both make some great race and surf shapes.   http://www.evolveboards.com/  https://solacesupboards.com/

I landed on a rock while jumping off my board, gave me PF for about three months.  Step one for healing, NO BARE FEET!  I wore crocs or similar lightweight slip ons even in the house.  Second, I sleep on my stomach so I always prop my foot on a pillow or two to keep the foot stretched at a 90 degree angle from leg.  Third, these shoe inserts are awesome, instantly relieved the pain and helped the healing.  http://www.theinsolestore.com/heel-that-pain.html?gclid=COSLycjj1tACFVCBswodTmsCKQ

Gear Talk / Rack Pads for Trucks?
« on: December 08, 2015, 08:23:21 PM »
Since so many folks are using truck racks with the thick crossbars, anybody making rack pads that are extra big to fit around these crossbars?  Either companies online, or local surf shops?

I am in CSC on the Magothy, Little Magothy can be good in winter when the Magothy gets too rough.  The end of Amos Garrett in Annapolis is a good launch at the head of Spa Creek.  Definitely get good booties and maybe wetsuit pants by Supreme, etc, I find full wetsuits are too hot in winter.  Just stay close to shore/ shallow water when it is cold!

Yeah the Magna Trailer rack parts are super heavy duty, 2" square all galvanized pieces, I like that they include a cross brace part now, my friend had to use wood for his.

Thanks Bill, those are some good deals!  However, I will likely be doing a lot of highway miles at interstate speeds, and I wondered how lighter weight trailers will perform at long distances.  My friend built this one with the kit above, I think the kit will be around $400 for all parts plus trailer.  Rolled from Maryland to NC at 80 mph no worries.

Gear Talk / SUP Trailer
« on: January 23, 2015, 08:20:55 PM »
Any ideas or reccs for a SUP trailer?  Right now I am trying to find a small boat trailer and retrofit it with these racks:  http://www.magnetatrailers.com/canoekayaktrailersaccessories/canoekayaktrailerparts.html  Any other rack kits out there that folks have found to put on a boat trailer?  Also, any pics of homemade trailers would be great!

SUP General / Cruise ships with SUPs
« on: November 16, 2014, 03:19:22 PM »
I have no interest in ever being trapped on a cruise ship, but recently I remember seeing a company that had partnered with a cruise line in the Caribbean to provide SUP boards right from the stern "watersports" section of the ship, every day (not just for the one lousy "Beach Day" the ships usually provide you.)  Searched but could not find anything, anyone have an idea of the cruise line or company?
