Foil SUP / Re: Dock Starting an 8-0 Sup

Thanks Beasho yeah it's more grit and determination than talent  ;D

Thanks Califoiia ( cool handle) let us know how you go on the Kings . Just one tip it's more a drop and run at the same time , it's not a drop standing start , the board just sinks. The standing start works on the small boards but not the big ones.

We are running 16" Chinook boxes so ATM we are mid box apx 28" from tail with another 4" fore & aft . No kneeling or paddles planned just the arms . The board is very flat with little or no rocker.

Here's our version from down under , I'm just on 200lb plus haven't stood on a Sup for many years so I went 8-0 x 21 x 120 litres , teamed up with the Axis 1300 this thing is crazy stable. Managed to flat water pump it up in the first 10 mins so pretty impressed.

Piros, this looks freaking amazing!  Such clean lines.  Offbeat question for you.  Could you / Can you swim it into downwind bumps?

PS:  75 Mast?

Yes for sure and that's the plan to also prone paddle it offshore and do a downwind , crash and restart without the paddle . I've got a pretty good set of prone paddling arms . My prone boards generally range from 19" to 19"-3/4 wide so this at 21 will be fine . Just need the right conditions.

Yes 75 mast & SUPeter that's a great looking board , well done.

The BSC 890 doesn't come into this category at all , it's a slow pumpy surf wing for sitting in the pocket of the wave and not accelerating out. The 810 HPS great fast nimble surf wing but a tough one to pump laps unless you are a light weight , great wing on windy days on the ding. The 740 is more a larger tow wing , need to have a good skill set to prone that. The 880 HPS is more a match for the 850 Cloud ticks all the same boxes accept the tight flowing turns of the 850 but it's still a great wing and was my favorite all round wing for everything when I was still riding Axis (now on Cabrihna H series 800 & 1000 )

There some serious good prone riders where I live all riding the Cloud 850 ,this is a must try foil . The flow and pump of this thing is seriously impressive.

Yeah they have been really well received down-under huge improvement on the old series . You'd put the 850 in with the Cabrinha H800 & Lift 120 absolute killer prone foil with an amazing top end , good pump and good lower stall speed. 15knots + it's also great on the wing .  The 1050 has more Lift than the Cabrinha H1000 and not quiet the same speed but very close , great pump. I was my 6M Slick SLS with my cab H1000 my mate was on a Cloud 6m with the FS 1050 it was 10 to 12 knots on the reach we were both identical speed , maybe I could point a touch higher but that's it.  So overall the new Clouds are really good , plenty of prone shredders here ripping on them here especially the 850 plus the 550 tow is incredible. New mast and 2 piece fuse system is really nice as well and the new tails are great I actually run one on my Cabrinha.

Foil SUP / Re: Kujira!

Picking one of these buggers up. I'm torn between the 1210 and 980. I'm a bit less than 90kg with wetsuit. 2-4 foor fave surf and 20knot wingdinging
 Any thoughts? Piro's?

For the Ding the 1210 is one of the best foils I have used plus it's good fun in the smaller stuff for prone but turns nothing kike the 980.

We came in today from towing offshore into the Broadwater and picked a nice run behind a boat about 10 waves back. Amazing glide from the Kujira 980 with KD 13" tail .

I ended up getting the 1210 with full carbon and I've been having a lot of fun with it. Its seems like setting up the kujira is mostly voodoo though. Weirdly enough, I am liking it best without any base plate shim or tail shim. The 1210 has plenty of lift for me at 220 lbs in all but the weakest waves. On the other hand I talked with another guy I had at least 20 lbs on who had the aluminum 1210 and he said he was struggling to get enough lift.

The kujira is stupid sharp. I've been out of action for a few days after cutting my foot on the wind tip. If it had hit a little straighter on I would have needed stitches.

I also found you don't need the wedge or shim on the 1210. Strange your friend can't get enough lift on the Alu set up as it has the angle built into the fuselage , it has a ridiculous amount of lift the only thing I can think off is that his board has a significant tail rocker offsetting the wedge. When we tow on the 85 Alu with the 980 mast we actually reverse wedge the mast and reverse shim the tail trying to kill the enormous lift at really high speeds.

Re the sharpness it is stupid sharp , I have some nasty scars from both my 980 & 1210 and so have my mates , plus the back of new carbon mast are even more dealy. As much as I love my Kujiras I sold them.  I'm so accident prone it's only a matter of time before I got a serious injury from them.

That's got to be way harder than it looks , impressive backward start  ;D ;D and how do you get back to shore in fast moving shallow water. Great skills BTW  8)
