Thanks but I ended up buying a wing. I will definitely look at your wing if the one I bought doesn’t work.

Gear Talk / Re: 24" Race board too narrow for 6' 170lbs guy?
« on: July 14, 2016, 09:22:47 AM »
My height is 5,9 and weight is 185lbs. I raced that same model at ROR in 2013. I have also owned a few 23/24 boards since then. 2 hours plus on a board that narrow and my legs were toast by the end. Decent result with the race but only because at the time I paddled almost everyday. My perspective on narrow boards has changed over the years, partially because I don't enjoy flat water racing anymore, and also because I am starting to think that volume is important. Yes it will float you, but will it trim correctly? Currently I own a 23 inch wide Sprint for flatwater. It is fast but not fun for me. When I raced 2 days a week my perspective would for sure be different. I am also starting to wonder if a person's paddle style affects board choice more than we think. I would suggest demoing a few other boards if it didn't feel right. The volume on that board is quite low.

Awesome! Super glad to hear some facts about this board. I just found out that some of my friends had a chance to try this board here in Vancouver when Travis did a clinic. Once I hear back with details, I will update and share on zone. Very interesting design in my humble opinion.

Hi All,

Looking for feedback and real world reviews on those that have paddled this board. I know the Australians will  likely have had the most experience with it. Obviously it is designed as an "ocean" board but is it still fast in flat water? It has been referred to as tippy, but how tippy? Can anyone compare it to a similar width board? I have paddled most of the production narrow boards such as the Sprint, Ace etc... and would love to hear a comparison.  Finally, how does it do in small downwind swell? Travis makes it work but I am not Travis....

Thnx

I have tried both brands and find them to be the best quality inflatables. For surfing I think Uli has nailed it. I ended up buying an Uli Lopez ltd and love it! Being located in Vancouver BC doesn't allow me to surf daily but the Uli performs great when I get the chance!

Uli...Uli...Uli...

Also, look up Steamroller and see what he can do on an isup. Guy is amazing and a heck of a nice guy.

Gear Talk / Re: At 185 lbs, how narrow can I go on a 14?
« on: August 27, 2015, 09:01:45 PM »
I am about 187lbs but last year paddled at 193. As previously mentioned, rail and tail will make a big difference. I have paddled tons of 24-25 inch wide race boards. The list includes 2013 14x25 Sprint, 2012 14x25 Ace, 2014 14x24 Fanatic Flat water, 2014 14x24 Sprint and currently riding a 404 14x24. Every board paddled differently but I realize that I prefer hard rails for stability at that width. Volume was actually a secondary consideration for my last  board. The 2014 Sprint is way more tippy than my 404, but has considerably more volume. I could see volume being an issue if the races were really choppy but you might be surprised by what you can get away with. I am not even sure you can trust the volumes as they are listed. I paddled a 2015 14x25 Allstar that was listed at 260l+ but reacted and felt like less volume than my 404 at 226l. The 404 is probably pitching it for me though....

Downwind and Racing / Re: 2014 SIC Bullet 14 models

Aloha,

Last year I owned the the production 14 Bullet in SCC (actually first one off the line) and this year just replaced it with a Bullet V2 in SCC. Both boards share many of the same characteristics, ie planing hull, similar widths etc... The biggiest and most obvious change is the lower rocker of the V2, it makes the board much more efficient in flatwater. I just received it, but will post a review soon. I was quite amazed at how much lower the rocker is, even compared to my wife's 12,6 Bullet. I am loving this board! It is going to make a fantastic winter training board, a downwind weapon, maybe even a chop race board! Cannot comment on its  large swell downwind ability as the winds have died here, I do know the 12,6 is excellent. The original may be more forgiving in close frequency swell but the V2 will be far more efficient. I downwind a lot on small swells with narrow race boards and think the V2 is equal on getting on to plane. Just way more stable. Will post a review soon.

They are super fun races! Have only done one this year but that is going to change with summer. Last year I did almost everyone. Best race series in the Vancouver area!

Gear Talk / Re: SIC X 14 and x 14 PRO
« on: April 21, 2014, 08:39:55 AM »
Hi Ride, I just received my X14 pro and have ridden the standard width as well. Disclaimer, I paddle in flat to moderate chop but do not have waves to contend with. The X14 Pro is a very versatile board. I have owned many narrow boards such as 14x25 Sprint, 14x25 Ace, prototype M&M. All of these boards were fast but lacked true versatility. I am 5,9 and 185lbs so similar in weight and height. The X14 Pro pivot turns with ease, is super quiet in the water and catches small runners  !Love the fact it has ample volume for my weight. Now the bad news, it is tippy because the rails are so rounded. I like round rails. Optimal in constant side chop? Most likely not. If I was going to compare this board to others, a higher volume, narrower M&M. I would guess it would be similar to your Jav but with less rocker and lighter weight. Both my brother and I have weighed ours and they come in at 23 lbs with fin. Uber light!! Will be posting a full review with pics soon, good luck!

Depends on how big the aircraft is etc...containerized aircraft (cargo is built into special containers and then loaded on aircraft) would be your best bet. Even then there are many issues, you will pay for it!
