Napili is right.  Pono Bill pointed us in that direction in 2011.  Lake Norman is not Napili Bay but we have a blast here and also the NC coast.  All of you zoners are welcome anytime to come hang out!  Due to the gals, the sup board count is at six and the surf boards are currently at seven.  Sorta like buying shoes for the girls!!

+1 on Teamalty's post.  I think the most important thing is to get as low as possible.  It's like reefing the sail...less sail, less windage.  I also really work on useing my hips and get the paddle side hip out as forward as possible and really use the hips to rotate while keeping the arms as straight as possible.  Sometime even the "Conner paddle choke up" but I tend to lose the angle of the paddle after feathering on the recovery.

Also, any time zig-zaging helps reocovery side to side and when I'm past 45 degrees from wind head on I will really push up wind and then bare off to just over 90 degrees to use the wave action to spell my arms.  Just like sailing an "S" pattern when getting back upwind on a sail board.

Well here in the South Atlantic we're trying our best to gain a little ground with the West Coast and Hawaii.  We now have our very own Great White, "Mary Lee", 16 ft, approx 3,500 lb.  http://sharks-ocearch.verite.com

She was pinged on November 28th approximately one mile east of our Bueafort Street SUS, surf spot in Oceacn Isle, NC,  She was pinged on Nov. 29th at the mouth of the Cape Fear were she had been hanging around Bald Head Island...Careful with that new "Inlet Runner" DW!

In any event, doesn't take much to get us exited around here and it's cool just following her on the OCEARH web site.  Sorta like when we get 1-2 inches of snow!!

Great pics. Reminds me of earlier days.  We had a Pearson 28 sailboat that my Bride and Kids just loved camping out on.  We would anchor off of one of the many islands here on Lake Norman and the kids would notice the washed out cave looking areas in the high banked clay.  I always told them those were bear caves.  We would venture out on the island around dusk hunting for the bears.  Never saw one but it sure was fun watching the kids get all cranked up seeing who would get closest trying to peak in the caves.

Spookini

Love the 3 MPH chase. My first mental picture was George Costanzia on the scooter.  Also, something about Prius's.  I see one and I just have to pass it in my pick-up truck and I too always work in a good WTF..."Why The Face" in any good verbal confrintation!
