Hard to believe we are already Old School.

There are only a few spots in town that are a hard NO. You can find those easily by the talent in the water.

Most breaks are open to anyone that shows common courtesy and wave knowledge.

Great work Rick.

Finding good board reviews is why I came to the Zone 12 years ago.

Well done!

Gear Talk / Re: Anything out there similar to the Hammer?
« on: August 23, 2020, 06:20:18 PM »
I own a few different Hammers (9’5” x 33” and a 9'0" x 32") and a L41 that is 9’3” x 33”.

The Hammer is a fast and super stable board being thick with a very flat deck. With stepped rails, the L41 might not be as stable, but it is the fastest and loosest stand up board that I’ve ever owned.

I still own both and will take the Hammer out if the wind is up, but the L41 is more skatey with a race car feeling.

I went on my first real date to Five Summer Stories at the Santa Cruz Civic in 1972, I was 16 years old.

So I listed my usual likes and wants such as 9'-9'6" in length, epoxy build since I'm not a fan of poly, multiple fin boxes, classic 60's style longhoarding, etc.

Not too many epoxy multi-fin boxed classic boards back in the 60's.

In fact, none.

Nice one Rick! Great looking waves. I mean get it while you can.

It's almost the same here in Santa Cruz. The ocean is open all day every day. The beach is closed from 11am to 5pm.

Seems like a win-win situation to me.

$1200 hundred dollar stimulus check and a thousand dollar fine.

So you're telling me, I get to surf an empty line up and clear 200 bucks?

Sign me up.

The surf in Santa Cruz is closed.

Stay home and don't even think about it.

Although the streets and shops in Santa Cruz are looking like a ghost town, the surf at Pleasure Point is just as crowded as usual.

Breaking news from the President of the United States:

"We're ordering a lot of supplies. We're ordering a lot of, uh, elements that frankly we wouldn't be ordering unless it was something like this. But we’re ordering a lot of different elements of medical."

I like that Pence is untainted by past medical, scientific, or epidemiological experience and can provide a fresh

religion-based, “I cast ye out, Demon!!” approach to the pandemic.
