No video or photographic evidence, but I was able to try the 7'6" swim missile with the Unifoil Progression 140 out in the surf this weekend. While my intent for the board is to eventually try and prone DW, I wanted to see how it rode once up on foil.

Observations:
  • paddle speed is pretty good but I hadn't prone foiled in months so I'm not in the best paddling shape
  • when catching waves, if the board starts to heel in one direction, the board will start turning in the opposite direction (just like a small sailing dinghy). somewhat hard to recover when this happens
  • once standing, the length helps keep the speed and you can almost adjust your feet before trying to get the board up on foil
  • at 17" wide, foot placement is critical
  • the board pumps better than expected (again, I'm not in great foiling shape at the moment)

In addition to prone DW, I think this board is going to be great for a few scenarios:
  • REALLY small, barely breaking days where you just don't have the depth to catch anything on the inside
  • breaks where it peaks up on the outside only to break like shorepound on the inside

Here are a couple of tracks from two of my better waves. I think Dawn Patrol is pretty terrible but it's the easiest app I've found to track prone foiling that doesn't require any editing afterwards:

I'll report back when I've had a chance to give the board a go. Not sure what foil to start with:

- Unifoil Progression 140
- Axis ART1099
- Axis HPS1050

Leaning towards the 140 but open to suggestions.

Hi Gneve,

Chan is 115 lbs and she likes the 84 liter board which is probably very close to what her SUP foil downwind size would be.  I have no real frame of reference but based on her experience  and the gains she saw over her 64 liter board I am guessing somewhere around 110 Liters for me at 170 lbs.  I can get into the right swell on the 84 liter board but I would like to get the less perfect ones as well.  We ordered a 100 Liter and a 110 to see how those go.  They should be here in July.  Dave has all of these designs on file and could easily fit one to your specs.  He is great to work with.

Funny how the universe works in that I just picked up what I believe to be Chan's 7'7". Stoked to see if I can leverage this board to catch some outer sandbar waves here in Charleston.

I'm also considering this for light wind winging but balance could be tricky.  Should be fun to try!

The BSC1060 is a light wind weapon that still turns. That foil allowed me to progress quite rapidly. I have it for sale but tempted to keep it to push the low wind envelope or for the days when I just want to hit the easy button.

I have the 48L on order. Can't wait to put it through it's paces!!

These boards from King's look great. What is the guidance on sizing for a prone DW board? Will the folks at King's be listing these on their site at some point?

Thanks!

Great all around foil that really excels in lighter wind winging. I learned on this foil and decided it was time to sell as I haven’t been using it much lately. A couple of really light scratches but essentially like new (see picture). Comes with the padded cover.

Buyer to pay shipping from South Carolina.

$500 (new $697)

More info from the Axis site:

The Broad Spectrum Carve (BSC) wings are easy to ride wings, without compromising performance. Perfect for all-round riding including entry-level riders.
The BSC 1060 is the go-to entry level front foil for Wingfoiling.

The larger sizes are ideal for Pumping, SUP, Winging and Downwind. As we go down on sizing, 890-810-740 are high-performance Prone, Winging and Kite wings.

Ideal for big riders and beginners who learn in small conditions.

As with every AXIS front wing, the graphics on the wings give you all possible measurements so you can best compare and also quickly swap pieces or get new accessories for your foil.

Recommended use:
WING Surfing for all levels and the lightest conditions. Super easy to ride

Downwinding - for beginner downwinders and tiny bumps

SUP / Surf - For very small surf and all levels. Ideal for bigger riders

Wake foiling - All levels - tiny wake

Pump foiling - All levels - Great for learning

Windsurf foiling - All levels - light winds

Kite foiling - Probably too big to kite with

That's a great wing, mine is toast from using too often in strong wind. What kind of axis stuff are you looking for?

I'm all set on winging bit but not so much on the prone front. I'd be interested in at PNG910b (maybe HPS880) or 75cm carbon mast.

what did you use on the front handle to stiffen it up?

I took a piece of plastic tubing (not as rigid and thick as pvc), cut it down the middle, inserted the front handle and then wrapped it with hockey grip. Waaaay better than stock. Highly recommend the $10 upgrade for anyone riding Strikes.

Selling my F-one Strike CWC 6m wing.

Wing is in excellent shape with no repairs or signs of wear. The CWC's performance speaks for itself. For it's size, it is pretty lightweight with tons of power. At 72kg, I have been able to get on foil in single digit winds with the right foil. As you can see in the pictures, I have added a hard handle to the front which makes controlling this wing through jibes and tacks much better than the out of the box, soft handle.

I always pump up the wing after each session to let it dry in my garage before folding and putting it back into the bag.

Buyer to pay shipping from Charleston, SC.

$650. (I am open to trades if you have Axis gear)

There is a group of wingers in that area. If you're on FB, search for Panama City Beach Kitesurfers.

Thanks for the recommendation.

Heading to the Cape San Blas, FL area at the end of the month. Planning on bringing my wing gear but wondering if anyone has experience riding in this neck of the woods.

Thanks in advance.
