You can make this with 4-5" PVC pipe, skateboard grab tape for wrapping around pvc pipe, small sheet of plywood, a stick or boom handle, bungee cord and yoga mat or carpet floor. There is plenty of instruction online for it.
Im sure this will help with balance and engage your core muscles.

I would demo both if possible. im about 180lb and find my kalama E3(5'10x22.5 100L) pretty stable but I have 10 yrs of sup surfing experience. I think you want a board volume that your feet just at water level or 1/2" high when you standing on it. I found board to be more unstable when it have too much volume and your center of gravity increase. But too low of volume you will have to dig yourself out when catching a wave and also trying not to sink the nose at the same time. You probably will catch more of the mirco bumps with the bigger board and have a lot more fun compare to Sunova unless they make a slight higher volume one.

Dave, If you can share it, I would like to know how you cut the slot from the bottom to deck for the plywood reinforcement? I thought about using a circular saw with fine blade but I don't think it will work since it won't cut deep enough. Or maybe a right angle jig with hotwire?

I watch the video a few times to look at the board design. Looks like the front end of regular wing board and kalama V flat tail. Seems to make sense, you get the planeing at the first front half of the board. When you get enough speed, the front half should be out of the water and the V flat bottom help with board release from the water.

It will be interesting with the grow foam to see if it can get a somewhat constant weight per square foot. Do you know what do they weight per square foot? And water resistance or absorption?

I have talk to a few people(non-SUPer and SUPer) who is progressing down to narrower board(sub 17-19") and they said it doesn't feel as less stable than 23" board. They said the popup/getting on foil is super easy but for the non-SUPer the learn curve was steep initally. I'm currently on a Kalama custom E3 that is 5'11x22.5" and I have to said its really stable and I can get on foil on non breaking wave. But would like to get on foil even earlier. But its hard to said if its stable for others since before sup foiling I was SUP surfing on sinker SUP so my SUP skill is pretty decent. I think if you have SUP skill you can go pretty sub 20 pretty easily. My next board, I would like it to be around 6'6-7'x 18" so I can get on foil even earlier.

Does anyone have any spec/dims for his board? Looks like a mini version of sup race board with round front deck and somewhat recess standing area. Looks like it just a bit wider than his feet. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LD7PbV8UFlk

After 10 year of using the same shaft, it finally broke when I was sup foil yesterday. I might try to fix it with a wooden dowel and CF wrap it for a back up paddle. I have another kenalu shaft that I will transfer the blade and handle. I love the hot glue setup, if it was epoxy flue on, i will have to destroy shaft to get it out. Also my shoulder have been pain free since I switch to it. Thanks again for Ponobill and Lane for this amazing products and 10 more years.
