With the advent of prone foil, sup surf foil and downwind foil (let's not forget winging and kite foiling) the sport has seen a decline here in the Pacific NW for sure. Most of the og's I ride with now take to the foil in some manner. Like any sport the hard-core will always stay true especially if they are based near a good setup. New tech has allowed us to ride in conditions never thought possible so imo foiling has made many chase the new. But hey, I ust added another surf sup to the quiver so now when I charge I'm bringing it all! 🤙

You are a brave soul indeed lol. El Salvador is full of cobble and massive rocks. So many point breaks lead to shallow depths of rock, it's a intimidating place. I surfed that area 10 years ago and was blown away by all of the spots within short distances of each other. I've heard Playa El Tunco is all growed now. Way to crush it!

Check out fabled but finicky Guanos aka Chapman Point in Cannon Beach proper. Surf needs to be smallish like 3' or less, mid tide and on a w/sw. I woulden't consider it a wing spot but rather a paddlefoil location. Not busy and no grumpy people to contest with like at Seaside. Also, if the surf gets big try a river mouth like the Nehalam to paddle or wing in the Nehalam Bay. I've winged Manzi but the shore-pound is real. Report back if you get on the water. Cheers!
