Travel, Trips, Destinations / Re: Bali ..'not what you had in mind.
« on: March 07, 2018, 09:52:44 AM »
I am by nature suspicious of motive, and was thinking last night; 'Is this real?'   It's not only Birthers and 2nd Amendment provocateurs that sow discord.  I was a little curious the 'comments were disabled'  ...and this 'person' had last posted 9ys ago?!  There are no other landmarks to I.D. this as actually having taken place in Bali.  Anybody can stand on top of snowcap and selfie with 'K2, 2018' as a caption.  Hmmmmm?!

Jim

Good call - better to focus on whether or not this is actually Bali instead of on all the garbage in the sea. Let me guess, this is "fake news" . . .  ::)

Not surprising at all - Corran used to run a kayaking company called Riot Kayaks, which he basically ran into the ground and then took off (according to industry insiders). Ironically, I believe a restructured Riot ended up purchasing one of his SUP companies!

Wow - really interesting. Thanks for posting this Pbill. Loved the Lego version.

Gear Talk / Re: Adjustable werner paddles question...

I've got an adjustable nitro, had it for 3+ years now and it's been great. I use it for flatwater and surfing and it's quick and painless to adjust - no complaints at all.

I have a friend who uses this brand to store their kayaks and they work really well:

 http://www.suspenzkayakstorage.com/

They make SUP, kayak, and canoe racks and they seem to be pretty bomber (but if you're reasonably handy/know how to weld you could probably make your own for a fraction of the price - my friend paid $400+ dollars for the rack  :o).

It looks kind of boring to me - I'd rather find a standing wave in a river.

Much cheaper!

Slingshot SUP has a cool new High Pressure SUP Inflator Adapter for inflatable SUP Boards. I have one but haven't tried it yet. It looks great though.

Careful there detourgreg - Wardog might claim that he made it first and Slingshot's stealing from him . . . ;)

Hey, 100 posts - it only took me 4 years!

Why abandon such a successful shape, i. e. the 12/13 model?  I think my 2012 just went up in value.  Maybe I should buy another as an investment.  Very interested to see what DJ thinks about this board.

If Naish is changing the board after only one year, isn't it more likely that they were dissatisfied with the new shape?

I used to work in the outdoor retail business and most times something new only lasted a year it was because it was a flop. Not sure if this is the case here or not - maybe someone more "in the know" can chime in.

Hmm, more than 3 months in, and no collapse.

What a surprise!  ::)

Done it in a canoe or kayak a number of times - my advice is don't underestimate how long it will take.

The first time I did it a buddy and I planned to spend an afternoon doing the trip, and gave ourselves 6 hours to complete it. It wasn't nearly long enough - paddling non-stop from the put in on little Shuswap only got us to the Pritchard bridge.

It's a good way to spend a day (or even two), but it'll take longer than you think.

And your source for this uninformed BS is . . .?

Wait, let me guess - that bastion of integrity known as Alex Jones . . .

Who the hell is Alex Jones ??

So, again I'd love to hear the source for your earlier comment about how all mass shootings are a result of psychotropic drugs. . . ?

What is the one common denominator in ALL mass shootings around the WORLD.  Every shooter was taking or had recently been on phsycotropic medicine

Why do people have to fixate on guns, as if there are no other types of murder weapons?

Well, because:

Guns make it quicker/easier to kill.

Um, it looks like you answered your own question . . .

I had never heard of Chaco before about a month ago.  My sister in law has trouble finding comfortable sandals, and the retail guy at the store selling them said to her, "buy these, wear them all vacation long, and if they're not the most comfortable sandals you've ever owned, return them and I'll give you your money back." My very finicky sister in law raved about them at the end of her stay.  I just saw a rack of them in the local store, and now with this info and her testimony, I may have to give them a try.  I also wanted to order some Vere Sandals and give them a go.

I'll second the love for Chaco - without a doubt the best sandals out there. Beats Olukai and Rainbow and Teva and all the other high priced, non-performing sandals out there like a drum.
Try a pair and any other sandal will be ruined for you . . .
