Surfin' the Gulf, I'm with you man. Any rideable wave is a good one on the Golfo to me.

I picked up a 9-6 Steeze and I'm surprised at what the thing will catch and ride out. I'm talking total ankle slappers just as good as my 11 did or better and I'm no light weight.

Nice FL Gulf sesh! Always wanted to scratch that place off the bucket list. Too bad about the beach combing fotog though!

One word....SOLOSHOT! Amazing device.

https://soloshot.com/

Thanks you're videos rock. I'm humbled by your attack on the cold.

I need to look into that soloshot (and get better at surfing)

I think I know the first area you referenced in your last vid, it was THE spot on the island back in the day.

Thats pretty good for the Gulf! Ive spent allot of time in the Marco/Naples/Sanibel area, mostly kiteboarding the fronts, where are you?
Cheers

I'm up at Honeymoon Island. There's 4 or so different breaks here, enhanced by the beach re-nourish and t jetties they installed in recent history. I basically have this break to myself and can leave the prone guys alone. I share with a random long boarder now and then but that's it. Don't tell anyone :)

The kites were out on Friday and Saturday, chatted with a guy setting up to kite foil Friday afternoon.

Yes you can.....

I thought I'd share the stoke for a back to work Monday. It doesn't get any nicer here for the winter. Just a great winter morning here in the Sunshine on the Gulf.

The front came through late Friday as expected. Short boarders found some faces in the wind blown stuff Saturday, then yesterday was the glassy leftover swell I was looking for. 48 air temp, 69 water, wind 0 at the start in the early morning. Not a cloud in the sky and warmed up through the morning. Clean swell on the incoming tide. It was a little taller at one point but the photographer wife was off shelling and didn't get any shots.

She also missed the smallest wave nose ride cross step ever on that one shot, I was proud of that one :)

Waiting on the next front to do it again. Maybe next time I can report on the new ride that's incoming. Y'all have a good one.

We basically wait in between for each cold front to swing down this time of year. It's been a pretty reliable weekly deal up until about Christmas day. Last week not much happening. It also has gotten warm, in the 80's every day. The gulf temp has risen from 64 to 70 over that period. It was 63 water, 45 air temp for that other picture 2 weeks ago and I had my 3/2 on. It helps to also enjoy flat water paddling here.

Looks like we have a good one coming tomorrow. Proners will be looking for rideable faces in the slop. Sat will calm down and clean up some, wind about half, then Sunday early looks like the smaller glassy left over day.

I'll try and contribute what I can but I'm short on experience. I have gotten tons of good info from lurking around for a while and have benefited tons from it.

 "Kooking Giants?"

Looking out for the next set.

I ride the "shmall" all the time on my 10'11" x 32 NSP Allrounder..

Fairly inexpensive but kind of heavy.

I'm 215, could go smaller...have a new board coming soon.

Michael was pretty good to us on the Florida Gulf coast yesterday. Hope everyone makes out OK in the panhandle this afternoon, storm looks legit.

I went out early yesterday, swell was still building but when I went early it was perfect for my noob skill level. I'm guessing chest high clean waves, off shore wind, dead calm between the swells. Was glorious and my first time riding over calf high, fared well, just me and a long boarder out early, won't forget that for a long time.

By the afternoon it was a parking lot on almost every break here and the swell was still building, much more power and size in the afternoon but getting messy. Really beyond my skill level with my 11 footer.

Haven't looked today but I'm sure it's messy. Outer rain bands swinging over occasionally.

Nice video, is that on LBI? Grew up there.

The dune fences and red/white wooden barriers bring back memories, the surf as well.

So true...... I'm a hazardous waste disposal professional and storm related business has unfortunately been good in recent times.

My company has me on standby to deploy currently waiting for the water to go down. Will be rounding up and packing out scattered chemicals,  addressing chemical hazards, etc. when I get in there.

Water sends materials everywhere, we're still cleaning out some of the waterways in the Keys.

Anyone in the area I hope you fared well...
