Definetly depends on your level.

My current set up : 52foilboard 5'7 x 24 - 96L (ultra light) + Signature Albatross 250 or 210 regarding the conditions.

I tried the 1150 only flat water and catching boat wake. Super easy maybe the easiest foil this size to get up ?? Amazing glide on tiny boat wake so I guess it might be good for super light dw.
Two firends of mine have it (SUPER, they are heavier than me) and now they can connect multiples waves which they couldn't do even with the 1020.

Thanks guys,

Is this the one?

https://boostsurfing.com/preorder/

That looks great.  They have lots of adapters and super light 1.7 lbs.  You could use a couple if needed.  Is it powerful enough to catch swell without hand paddling?  That looks questionable in the videos but it would be nice.  It would be cool to pulse while already in a squat or on your knees to avoid a full pop up.

The big question is the power and the speed, is it enought ?

Foil SUP / Re: Foil Etiquette
« on: September 13, 2020, 11:09:36 PM »
The Hawaii guys who were running the surf contest had it right. The paddler has priority. The guy pumping can go out for the next wave.

If someone pumps WAY outside and comes back in on the unbroken swell they should also be giving way to the true peak. There's no wakes on foils. You should be able to get multiple foils on waves and everybody give each other room. If you're trying to rebound off the white water then just take off on the closeout and let the other guys get out to the shoulder, then you'll have room to do your stuff.

Paddler on the peak has priority.

Totally agree with that, this should be the rule.

Unfortunatly when people can finally pump back out and catch mutiple waves they tend to forget the etiquette....
Now with the new wings it is so easy to catch multiple waves so yes we definetly need to warn people and spread the good spirit.

I fully back this. I think itís got to be the fastest way to progress (this is backed up by foilers whoíve done it.) Iím investigating doing a lesson in SD this month.

Merten -- who started eFoil Builders forum and who probably has more eFoil experience than most -- said exactly the same thing, that it is the best way to learn foiling.

Evan from Axis 'Foils'/Live2Kite has video of his kids riding DIY Axis eFoils on his Instagram and replied to my question that Axis would soon be releasing plans for the DIY retrofit of Axis foils.

Yes I saw that, the new/next generation of Efoil gear is gonna improve for sure, lighter, less expensive, etc...

As I said, I see two differents ways on the evolution of the Efoil : flying in flat water using only the power of an engine and the assisted engine which will open up a whole new world, just like Ebike.

Foil SUP / E foil
« on: September 06, 2020, 04:42:09 AM »
Lately I got a Efoil, I run a surf school and I do foil lessons so instead of getting a boat I bought an Efoil from a french brand PRW foil.

Two reasons why I bought an Efoil : first like I said, onlmy for business, helping people to get faster at foiling.

And reason two, I think there is a big potential for DW with electrically assisted only, I think this is the futur.

What I wouln't want to see is Efoiling becoming like jetski, big jump, going crazy fast, and certainly not on wave  !!!
But being able to go far outside catching open ocean swell just using electrically motor assisted to catch the bump and then only use the foil itself, this is what I bebieve in.

Anyway, first tried, super easy, I have a 5'7, I start laying down then take off with a little speed, you just need to adjust your weight/foot pressure and keep an easy speed (50% of the power that you can check on the remote, you cruise at 17/20 km/h).
The good part of this Efoil is with the beginner mode of the remote control, it makes an easy gradual speed so you have time to adjust and find your balance.

It is super safe as there is a leash that stop right away the engine when you fall.

The good part is even for good foiler you can improve your skill, for exemple work on your technique for carving turn.

I will send a video soon.

How did you rig up your paddle to sling across your back like that?

So you did the run on a prone without a paddle ?

Marketing for sure but maybe that is not it, I guess we will have to try.

I like the look of this foil, more hight aspect, looks more performance than the lol which is already good.

When I lived there I used to run foil lesson, the best spot is definetly Sano. The wave is exactly what you want for foiling.
Avoid sano when there too much south swell, other than that you can amways foil there. Maybe avoid big hight tide with small swell.

OMG.....this got my attention. Neil Pryde foils are still my all time favorite carving foils. Add in some pump and glide and dreams may come true.

This is really interesting, can't wait to get more informations about this.

Seems to me that even I haven't tried everything all the new foils are good.

I'm a big fan of Axis because it is all interchangeable, not heavy but strong and durable (even an alu set up is still pretty light, not the lightest but light and super stiff), good quality screws (very important), super tight, and most important they work very hard to keep up and stay in the game with new gear coming up all year round. And it is not to expensive.

For sup I like Axis mostly because it is stiff and the wings work really good (900 and 910).

For surf foil I have to say the Signature 165 is a killer foil, super light, super responsive, good for pumping and turning because all the speed you get.
