A neat trick with the Naish fuselage is to drill and tap a third hole ahead of the two stabilizer holes (same spacing) and then you have two positions for your rear wing.. (short and long fuselage)

4
Iíve noticed the Naish fuselage changing over the years with the first being thick and round.. (and heavy). The next year became squareíish. (and a bit lighter)..The next year became triangleíish (and even lighter) and now the new S25 version is scooped out and lightened more version of the triangle.
I wonder if thatís it now with its evolution?

Iíd recommend going with the 82cm mast.

6
Iíve seen some bend and itís normally right near the base plate.

I think the best fix is to just cut about 10cm (a few inches) off and tap the holes.

great video.  Thanks!

So, as one who is about to take the dive into foiling I'm educating myself.  That's a big wing.  What did you think?  What's your size and under what conditions would you use it?

Thanks.. Iím 6í4Ē and  about 220 lbs.. I liked it but itís probably a bit overkill for most people.. Smaller wings are always better.

I think if youíre a bigger guy looking for a bit more grunt out of your wing or your local conditions are often very light this wing would be great but I think most people would find the 6m a better option being a little easier to handle and offer a bigger wind range.

The wind was gusting around 8-12 knots with lots of big holes of nothing.

Not electric.. but wow.

Good question.. Iím guessing a thin gliding HA foil would work best.

The Shape Shack / Re: thick dark strip on bottom of foil boards

Iím guessing itís carbon fiber and there to add stiffness to the board.

The glass or skin on the bottom of boards is usually very thin because the surface is supported evenly across the whole bottom buy the water and itís usually under tention like when you stand in the middle (on the top) pushing down but if you were to flip the board over and stand on the bottom this puts the bottom skin in compression and a crease would normally be the result..

Iím thinking this carbon reinforcement strip not only acts like a stringer but protects against these tension/compression forces.

Hi Bill.. I just thought it might be a simple system to be able to just tie it onto a handle and although it works fine it does flop about making hooking in tricky which is both good and bad because at least you are less likely to have accidentally hookíins while pumping the wing.

It can be easily tucked out of the way unlike a normal harness line thatís always hanging there and almost in the way.. I donít have any quick release system on it.. I only used it a short while and next time Iíll move it back one handle and try just grabbing it with the back hand and placing it on the hook.

A friend of mine is loving his for those long trips upwind so he can do downwinders back to where he started.

We are still locked up here in Melbourne (Oz) but we can get out for some daily exercise.. Today I tried a kitesurfer chicken loop as a harness line and it worked fine.

Awesome content and edit as usual DJ! All your stuff has been inspiring me ever since I joined the Zone several years ago - from the downwinders, to your mellow break, and now your wing videos. Thanks very much.

Anxiously awaiting a downwind wing video from you!

What's your opinion on the boom?

Thanks.. and Iím looking forward to being good enough to DW with the wing.

Re the boom.. Having a windsurfing background I was thinking Iíd love the boom but after trying it I prefer the handles.. I actually felt more hand fatigue with the boom and I was expecting the opposite.

We are still in lockdown here in Melbourne Oz but they have just increased our daily exercise time from one hour to two hours.. So as long as you donít have to travel to get there we can now get back on the water.. I live in Surf Street Parkdale and itís right near the beach so I can rig up and carry my gear across the road to wing-foil.. Itís so nice to get out after being locked up so long.
