You can start with more research online of possible areas you may want to relocate too.

If your friend lives in Honolulu, then he isn’t on The Big Island of Hawaii. He’s on Oahu ;)

Wow, i cant believe I mixed them all up. My mind has been in overload for a a few weeks now and I was typing that pretty late. Yes I meant Oahu lol

SUP General / Opportunity to move to Big Island from FL
« on: December 22, 2013, 09:10:58 PM »
Started my life over in 2010 after a short marriage which led to divorce at the age of 30 so now Im a young 33yr old bachelor. Since then I have been able to get back around the water and do the activities that I truly missed. Well, my good friend relocated from FL to the Big Island of Hawaii (Honolulu to be exact) and has thoroughly enjoyed it and we're very much alike and he feels I would absolutely enjoy it out there.

So he proposed an idea that I had been tossing around for about a yr now since he left. Id have a place to stay for awhile until I got my feet wet and found a place of my own. I would hope that I wouldnt have a problem finding some work, as Im humble & open to almost anything that pays the bills and allows me to start over again, dont mind working multiple jobs if I had to. I have no ties to FL, single and no mortgage.

I really enjoy the water and the island life from my experiences in the past traveling. So Im putting in alot of effort to make this decision as thorough as possible. I know alot of zoners have had experience with Hawaii so Im reaching out to you guys/gals.

Ive been told that companies wont hire from the mainland and to just get there and find work. Bachelor degree, 8yrs sporting/entertainment/cust service mgmt, 7yrs HR exp as corporate recruiter & generalist, many yrs of hardwork outside/home renovations labor jobs throughout & after college.

Does it sound like a good decision and realistically what are the chances I'll be able to find something quickly to put my mind at ease?

I enjoy Florida but Ive always been someone to take on new life endeavors and risks.

Thanks for any feedback you can provide!!

Wet okole or any seat cover shouldnt require professional install and theyre not waterproof. The neoprene just holds the water or sweat and they also fade. I had the wet okoles for two weeks and got rid of them. You just remove the seat for an easier install. Mine (iggee) similar to coverkings and custom were $300 for both front seats and back bench.

Iggee...100% waterproof and dont get swamp *** like the Wet Okole ones I tried. I ride topless 90% of time here in FL.

SUP General / Re: Looking for a sup store in St Pete or Tampa

Most of the shops around me just do demos and don't have much of a selection. Can anyone recommend a good shop in St Pete or Tampa?

Solstice Sports - South Tampa on Howard - good selection and I hear he's going to be adding alot to his lineup.

I hope to get back out on mine a couple times a week and hit the pavement.
The reason I don't take skateboarding again is because I don't want to hit the pavement.

Literally or figuretively?? when you're a guy like me who has been out of sup for 10mos for various reasons, its the easiest thing for me to do to keep my mind going. Heck Im surrounded by water here and live on a lake but certain circumstances forced me to sell off all my sup gear and turn away from it for a bit. Thats all changing next month though!!

Sand grip hasnt wore off on my kahuna boards yet. I have all 3 generations of the big stick. The original puck design which i still use, the blade (version 1 which is terrible) and the updated blade (much better grip).

I hope to get back out on mine a couple times a week and hit the pavement. My local shop has a bunch of setups

This is awesome for a guy that lives smack dab in the middle of all of these, is still recovering from a torn bicep, has delayed his ordering of a new custom board so it doesnt arrive too early and causes him to rush back onto the water too soon. then having to build back the stamina:(

I realized Apple is a cult and I'd have better luck trying to convince Tom Cruise that Scientology is a scam, but...

For you folks who "love" the iPhone, can I ask...  have you ever really USED an Android phone?  For like, more than a few minutes?  I can't imagine swapping over to the iPhone once you've used an Android phone long enough to get comfortable w/ it.  (Say, a few hours).  The non-tweakable nature of the iPhone UI is very unappealing, in my opinion.  And functionality-wise, the two phones do the same things -- I'd say Android actually is capable of a lot more.

Personal preference, but to me Android is confusing the way a remote control for your TV is confusing -- if you're flustered by it, there's no hope for you anyways  :-[

Yes I have spent a weekend with the droid & to put it lightly...couldnt stand it!! I have 4 friends who work in I.T who had company owned hacked droids  and each one of them went out and bought iphone5s and one friend iphone4 out of their own pocket to replace their droids. Not one of them misses their droid.

Otter box may be great cases but when you carry your phone in your suit pants for work or dress pants going out, last thing I need is some bulky case in my front pocket. So advantage goes to my very slim lifeproof case.

« on: January 22, 2013, 07:25:22 PM »
I do have a macbook pro, ipad, iphone 4 & iphone 5 so I am an able guy now. Was leaning towards Roku so I didnt have to jailbreak another device like the appletv in order to play movies ai have stored on my macbook. Sometimes I feel overwhelmed with all the software updates and keeping track of whats what.

But I am looking for the simplest integration and dont need to buy another dvd player since my current one doesnt get used anyways.

Keep the feedback rollin in though guys its helping me out!!
