Hello to Rick and all:

I went out on my own last Saturday at Coast Guard.

Fortunately, it was too big.  I quickly turned tale and caught a foam ball in.

I felt torn and am probably hanging it up too.  I'm gonna dread that nice sunny day with clean waves!

My big concern is how will the town maintain order and viral containment this summer?!  We don't have an army of fully suited-up storm troopers with flame throwers converted to sanitizers.

Hello to Todd, Big, PDLSFR and all:

I was just telling my daughter how much fun I had, and said I better check for a 1st Beach update.

It had been over 2 months of no surf for me - blame it on sharks!  Work didn't help.

I'm so glad to have made the trip.

Man talk about rusty, I must have pulled the trigger 4 times for every wave.

2 days later and I'm still waiting to try a cough or sneeze!!

In honor of Dave's passion for surf, and our own, it would be nice to have a paddle board paddle out.

Whether big or small, let's get it done before the sharks come knock'n.

Echoing Big, David was indeed part of the tribe.

His skill at surfing was definitely sufficient for yesterday’s conditions.

The lack of local internet traffic does not equate to the conversations circling around among “us”.

As someone who was in the water at the same time, just down the road at Coast Guard, I’m having a tough time processing the loss vs. the fact that it was a great day of surf.  I’m sure Dave would have agreed.

The outer Cape had a similar 2' forecast.

CG was firing with some chest to near head high sets.

The crowd had 2 morning shifts.  Big Creek and many did the morning and a few others and me did the second half.

My almost had to narcan me off the couch to do some chores!

Hello to Rick and all:

I'm assuming that it was Monday.

Saturday was pretty darn nice too.

on Saturday, first Pumphouse Matt solo'd it, then I solo'd for about a 1/2 hour, then 1 by 1, the crowd swelled 15+-.  Matt's better half kept all the guys inline!

Who and what board is in picture 13?  The half red / half blue looks like an Infinity scheme.

3 weeks ago, a few of us attended the shark talk put on by the National Seashore at the Middle School.  Dr. Skomal said that the water was getting cold enough to drive all the 'whites south.  He further said that a few Nor'easters would give them the added motivation to get the he!! out of town.  And since then, we did get a couple of nasty blows.

Talking to a couple guys out on the water, the personal sense was that the "coast was clear", enough - that's my weak reasoning as well.

Only 3 days of wave surfing since August?  I don't know where the time went.

Some great days of windsurfing have helped fill the void.  Tomorrow might a good one with a stiff WSW forecasted.

One more thing about yesterday OC - Recounting Sunday's good vibe at work with Nate, he tells me you are running a "bleed out" prevention seminar.  I felt bad not knowing about it.  Talking with Seth who I also work with, he didn't know about it either, and he grew up with Nate.  The 2 of us will be sure to sign up!

Wow

My new year’s resolution of 2017 was to make trips inland to RI, in preparation of avoiding the Cape’s late summer shark fest.

April of 17 was my first trip.  That’s where I met “whatsup”

Fast forward to this fall - yesterday was only my third day of wave surfing since the first of August.  Fortunately, yesterday, along with the first 2 to 1st beach, were solid A’s.

1st is a tricky shore break, often times it’s all or nothing.

I’m not sure what was considered the magic time yesterday, but the early to mid afternoon shift was really good.

Along with Big; OC, his son, PK and I were part of the immigrant caravan that snuck in under RI’s border fence.  I don’t think I’m exaggerating when I say that we clearly didn’t stink up the joint.

I saw OC catch a left that could have made a surf magazine.  It was super clean and decent in size.  Thinking to myself, I gonna get one of those before I go home.  After migrating some more to his location, I settled in to an easy rotation with a kayaker and short boarder.  We were all cheering for each other and shared really well in the playpen.

Rick Creek and I jaw-jacked in the supermarket tonight.  He too had made his way.  Before we left, him 70 and me 60 coming up were pumped up like teenagers.

Wow is how I still feel 24 hours later

Hi Todd:

Saturday and Sunday morning with waist to some eyeball high sets with light winds had my a$$ drag'n today!

Stiff, but good enough to start wondering about a session before work!
