There is more to this story. And yes please remove all the emails and phone numbers. I am a little disturbed by  private emails being posted. Everyone needs to tread carefully and respectfully. This is not a simple matter. Hopefully things can be worked out but there are many issues.

Been there.. 15 years with an amazing company but had a feeling that things were heading towards an end. I was fairly highly paid after years of increases and my field "graphics" was being outsourced. Thankful for a decent severance and awesome retirement plan... 8 years and I've been going it on my own to fairly decent success... So thankful for socking it away and a decent real estate holdings. But it is a little scary.

Amazing to me that a hip replacement takes such a short time to recover from... 3 weeks and back paddling...? I had rotator cuff surgery November 2017 and am still having issues.. Can SUP no problem, took at least 7 months to be able to lift board overhead, but still have fair amount of pain. Hip seems to be such a large joint I'm amazed at the recovery... Still no OC1 mostly from dread of loading overhead on car. Just can't wrap my head around 3 weeks from hip surgery to paddling. I had to go to a Blow Zone just to do my hair for 6 months... : ) Yes I'm a little bit of a girlie girl...

Seriously... think this is a bit silly... I didn't read the HC thread past the few first pages, didn't care, not offended, no worries. Think I suggested posting more pics of hot guys (Danny Chings abs) but that didn't go very far. Whatever... Then again, I'm not offended when some random guy (I'm a chick) hoots at me... I think I remember that happening.. : ) Seriously doubt this is much of an issue for women joining or participating in the SUZ. I did used to get creeped out by Cammar posting all those shots of chicks butts on his Surf report.. but that was (is) creepy.

I need to do some new shots and some drone work.

Drone shot down the driveway, through the gates, right through the living room, out over Uaoa Bay would be the money shot for Pono House...  8)

Not sure I'd classify as "good books" but did just read "Into Thin Air" by Jon Krakauer who says he's still haunted by that disaster, and Bad Boy: My Life On and Off the Canvas by Eric Fischl. Interesting look into the upper level art market. I can leave both for you. Thanks for leaving me "Riding Sophia"... fun rainy afternoon reading.

SUP General / Re: Resell value of SUP

Since I spend 6 months in Maui and 6 months in Florida I've sold a few boards instead of hanging on to them. For sure the used surf ones I've bought have been the best for resale... i.e: Starboard Pocketrocket 2013... pd $750 used, used for summer, sold for $650 easliy...  This summer bought a JL Quad for $750 from Hi Tech... love this board, not gonna sell it.. You are better off selling than hanging onto for sure... I have a 12' Munoz in my garage that I can't quite part with since it really is a sweet board although hasnt' been ridden in 6+ years. Kinda like cars... buy new, you take the hit. And I always used to only buy new... Scary when you buy a custom race board and pay $4000 or so..

Mike Doyle showed up at our beach.  Does that count?

Wild pics STC!

Is Mike still here? He walked me down the isle at my Mexican wedding back in 1993... Stayed at Sparky's house. Good times. I'll see if I can find the pics.

Tough call but I'm one of those that tends to step in. I despise thieves, major punks and bullies. One thing I've learned though is its almost useless to intervene in a domestic. Once out out 1000 Peaks I saw/heard a woman screaming for help as a big guy was pummeling her at the park... I started to paddle in, thankful that a few others also started making their way in. They noticed us converging and both jumped into a junker and sped off. So sad people live like that. At Kanaha I also saw a girl getting the shit beat out of her right there in the parking lot. I was in my car and drove by and said I was calling the cops. The cops responded but said it had been going on all day. Good lord. But seriously if I saw someone pounding a tourist like the Paia incident, I really think I'd at least try and do something to distract... But then again, I pretty much have no one that counts on me so I can be a bit more reckless. In Florida though I keep my head down. Practically everyone is armed... and nuts.

Good point.. The 12'6" Bark that I was riding for a couple weeks had a really great soft long strap handle.. Made it easier to lug to the beach than my little 8'6" surf sup with the sucky handle... but loading on the roof is a different story when it comes to weight....

Ok, really? 20lbs max? Really? Wow, you must hang with some real wilting flowers. My first board, the Fly (planning hull) is about 22lbs give or take, I forget the exact weight. The board that I now take everywhere, be it with or without the aid of my husband, is 31lbs (Ray, displacement hull). Every woman I know personally that paddles, paddles a board over 11' and over 22lbs. So maybe your generalization isn't that accurate, or maybe we're just all freakishly strong here in NJ. I feel so muscular all of the sudden...

Lol... I can carry a 30lb board but would really rather not especially in the winds we usually have. Nothing like getting spun around and slamming the nose in the asphalt or the car next to you, or tweeking your back. I load my boards on the roof and the weight can be a challenge solo... I'd say under 23-24lbs is reasonable for a small person. 5-6lbs does make a difference. I recently demoed a Bark 12'6" that was 23lbs and it was close to being too heavy... Then again I've had some minor back issues and paddle almost everyday so I'd rather be comfortable.

Sounds like you paddle with a tough group of gals...  ::)

I have to jump in and offer my 2 cents... Weight is pretty important to smaller paddlers. 30lbs is just way too heavy. I'm 5'7, 135lbs and pretty strong.. Paddle almost everyday and one of the hardest parts is loading the board or OC1 on the roof of the truck. If someone will always be paddling with her than its not that critical. I ended up getting rid of my beloved F16 because at 30lbs it was terrifying to load in any wind by myself. 30lbs may not be much for most guys but even carrying to the water can be a challenge for a smaller female paddler. My surf sup weighs 20lbs and thats about all I want to hoist over my head.

The board below sounds interesting. 22lbs and 29" wide, could be a fun surf sup for you as well. Displacement hulls are great but again those boards tend to be heavier and longer and for a beginner paddler, don't cut through the boat wakes or whitewater as easily and get pushed more in side winds...

These guys are in CA and Orlando and seem to be pretty decent to deal with. I haven't bought from them but spoken with them on the phone and they were very willing to discuss boards and seemed knowledgeable... Lots of boards and free shipping or local pickup.
