Sadly, I have not made it to the Islands. I really appreciate your info and am looking forward to your trip report! Happy travels!

@Stoneax “If you pull the strap tight and then wind the excess once around the buckle and then around the rack a few times before tucking in the end it takes most of the strain off the buckle and won't come off even if the buckle loosened or broke.”
I am having trouble visualizing how this takes the strain of the buckle and would hold if the buckle broke. I probably just need more coffee.
Could you post a photo of that technique?
Thanks!

Quickbeam - thanks for all the great info. We've just decided on going to the Cooks and are now figuring out the when and details. We are planning on two weeks and dividing our time between Raro and Aitutaki but are interested in getting out to other islands too. We are looking for lodging that provides that magic mix of privacy, beach front, proximity to amenities like cafes and groceries, and affordability. Small, clean, funky, and quiet in a good location is always a prize. I did find this rental/tour place https://www.kitesup.co/ Thanks for the tip on Tikioki beach. I'll check it out. Please feel free to PM me with any other lodging details you can share.

I’ll echo Bean’s suggestion of counseling. Nights laying in bed crying sounds troubling. I also suggest a side-bar with your daughter. Perhaps she and her family needed some space and breathing room?

Maybe there would be more women participating but ... the first time I came to this site the top post was "Hot Chicks on SUPs" and I noticed it had hundreds of posts. I would think that would tend to turn off a lot of women who SUP. Where I surf about 30-50% of the SUP surfers are women, and the best local SUP surfers are women.
Agree! The Hot Chicks tread and stalwart defense of it by core board members turned me off to this board.

Thanks for sharing your wife's experience Blackeye. The research on chemo and exercise clearly shows how essential it is for a good recovery. Thus my interest in continuing to paddle . Time on the water is like no other. The port is supposed to be fine for swimming once the incision heals. I was more curious about if folks found ports to be uncomfortable during the stroke (e.g. reach and catch) or any other part of paddling.

Thanks TallDude. I appreciate the info. I should of explained that the port is implanted completely under my skin and can only be accessed by a needle.

Hello, I am interested in hearing from anyone who paddled during their chemo treatments and/or with an infusion port implanted below their collarbone. Has it been done? Any tips?
Feel free to pm me if you prefer an off-line convo.
Thanks in advance.
