DW,
When you put different users on different setups and one works particularly well for all while others suck, then you can draw some conclusions. I understand all the different aspects of foiling but when everything worked but then you introduce a new variable and it doesn’t anymore that tells me something. All I know wasp and naish were designed for much windier spots so “average joe” can just stay home if it is 10kn unless you are into self mutilation. It’s just my shitty opinion. 3

I feel like it is a load of bs on his part. I am almost 2 years in my winging journey and I have only tried original 6m wasp. Power wise it felt somewhat between 4-5m swings that I have. It was around 12 mph winds that day when I tried it and I WAS NOT able to get up on the foil with 6m wasp and I was dancing circles on my 5m Swing. The same story with the 6m S25 Naish. Not great wings in my book. So I am quite skeptical of those statements. Original duotone 5m had a great power delivery but was unruly in the surf. Interesting to see what they have done with v2 version. 4

Don't know nothing about fanatic foils but prefer longer pedestal on my gofoil setup. Short pedestal just makes things a little more pitchy so I would say longer is probably better if you are looking to go faster. The last thing you want for your setup to be pitchy while are flying fast. Just my opinion.

Hopefully this is going to be a great wing. Others went to the moon with their pricing.

Beasho, why 29” mast? Not enough depth? I would think for those wave sizes longer masts would be a ticket.

It will depend on what you have to deal with upon entering water. I personally do not prone paddle on my boards - not effective in my spot. My main point is to get to the deep enough point so I can quickly get on my knees and power my wing and clear the shore break madness. I have literally seconds to do that - you fall or hit a sand bar on the way out - you are in for some beating. Now to the leash on the waist belt. I use 32” mast so for me to be able to hop on my board and go I will need to be in chest deep water. So when I have a leash attached to my wrist at least the wing is hovering on water surface or flying in the air. When the wing is attached to my waist belt, the wing leading edge tends to dive in and breaking 3-4 footers fill it up with water and your wing becomes an anchor impossible to move. Done that - huge hazard in my conditions. If your put in easy - definitely put your wing leash on waist belt - or if you are surfing maui waves - it is easy and I agree with PinoBill there - that’s ok to have leash on your waist. Just my experiences. 9

Dontsink, sometimes I paddle out - sometimes I don’t. It all depends on how much of ass kicking I am ready to endure. The hardest part is getting past the shore break. Getting in is much easier - I will foil literally all the way to the shore - trying to avoid wipeouts but have to be high up on the mast since there are bunch of sand bars as I get closer to shore and my gofoil 32.5 mast sometimes too long, so gotta be high up. Last time on serious day it took me roughly 20-25 minutes to clear the beach and sometimes it takes 2 minutes. I guess technique and luck ![]() 10

Having a leash attached to the waist belt is a death sentence in significant shore break. Bill, depends on your put in location. Here is mine typical NW day. https://youtu.be/IhSJDWPQEZU Good luck with wing leash attached to your waist - I was never able to get out. When it is on my wrist no problem. Yeah and riding in this with no board leash - my blessings. 11

It’s different from kiting. Maybe in benign conditions you can away with it but not in 8ft swell with 20+ knots winds.

I ride 5.4 quatro and liking it a lot. Board is very light - have no experience with fanatic wing board offerings. I am sure both options are fine. I hear your concerns about heat - I am in Florida and we had 75 degree weather yesterday and board got really hot within minutes so don’t know hoe it’s going to fair in 90 degrees. Sorry couldn’t be more of help.

Awesome, congratulations! I received my first wing board - 5.4 quatro wing drifter. Still waiting on florida to deliver some winds for maiden voyage.
