Hi,
I'm looking for a SUP longboard that behaves as much as possible like a normal surf longboard.
My specifications would be - 9 to 9'6 max - 2+1 and Quad fin setup possible - thin rails - available in Europe - for a 88 kg, intermediate surfer
Board I discovered so far: Jimmy Lewis Destroyer HP, but in 9'0 I'm afraid that it has a bit too little volume (120l) Sunova Revolutio Casey, would need at least one modifications for quad setup
Any other suggestions?
Cheers Andreas

Any recommendations for a board rental & hostel in Nosara area? Especially those that are open in July / August?

Hi,
I'm going to visit Costa Rica next July/August with my family. I would like to take the opportunity to SUP surf in the Pacific Ocean. Unfortunately, I am the only one in my family who surfs. Therefore, it would be great to find a spot where you can surf well and with little effort (rental is necessary), the family can have a good time and you can still make nice trips or so togehter make before/after a session. Surely there are such places? What can you recommend?
Cheers from Germany Andi

Hi,
are there SUP-training-plans out there? I'm 48 years old, paddling 2-3 three time a week (in all conditions a coast can offer). Mostly (if do not SUP-surfing) I paddle 1-1,5 hours with a constant, high intensity. For the next year, I plan to participate in races (technical and long distance) and I want to be prepared as good as possible :-)
Cheers from Germany Andreas

The Gong paddles are incredible value. I have several of their 7" wide pro carbon paddles and prefer them to several much more expensive paddles i have from top brands. The shaft is so forgiving on the body, and there is something about the shaft and blad e combo that makes them really good for getting into waves and downwind bumps.
Can I ask you how tall you are? I am wavering between the 7 and the 8. I currently have an 82 sq-inch paddle and the 7 is even smaller (76), but the 8 is 100 sq-inch. I need the paddle for mushy, onshore-wind waves.

Hello,
currently I have an adjustable Sunova carbon paddle, use it for everything from touring to surfing, and I am really happy with it. Nevertheless I'm thinking of buying a fixed paddle just for sup surfing. And there I would be interested in your opinion what makes a good, special wave paddle for you? E.g. larger blade, stiffer shaft or vice versa? And is there something like a reference paddle that you say this is the typical wave paddle?

Hi folks,
as already mentioned in the subject of this post, I have a (SUP-surf-newbie) question: When is a 2+1 setup useful on my 12'6 board? Will the outer fin help turning the board, or will they give more grip but prevent it from turning? I have here just mushy onshore waves and I'm quite unsure about the right fin setup. And if it is worth to buy a new fin set.
Cheers Andi

Hi folks,
I'm thinking about getting a Starboard Generation. But I'm unsure in which contruction. The cheaper "lite tech" or the more expensive "carbon top". By weight, the carbon is ~800gr lighter, but also 800€ more expensive. 1€/gr. But wouldt it be worth the price? How are the advantages apart from weight reduction? Is the carbon top more durable?
I am pleased to hear your opinion.
Cheers Andi

Where are you located?
I live in a small town at the coats of the "Bay of Lübeck" in Germany. Up to now, the wind is under 20 kts if I go paddling: First, a hard paddle upwind, than a short but delighting downwinder. Or, like yesterday, trying to get the 1 ft waves near the beach building up by 15 kts wind. Coming from surfing, currently i think more like surfer than like a paddler ;-) Although the conditions (chaotic, short periodic and mushy.) are mostly not surfable. @all: thanks for your input and replies!

What's your budget range? Your Height, weight (and age if you think relevant)? Your downwind experience?
Budget: max 1.800 € Height: 1,87, weight ~88kg actual board: 9'6 32'' wide, 150l wave SUP that I built my own. Experience: downwind -> nope SUP -> ~1 year in nearly all conditions the baltic sea has to offer, from absolutely flat water up to chest high mushy windwaves Goals: Downwinding and surfing in these conditions, not so much on touring

@Area 10: Thank you very much for your comparison! That actually hits my thoughts about the boards. 37lbs for a 14' Perv sounds really heavy. On their website, GONG says the 12'6 Perv has only 25-26 lbs. Would that weight difference raise the downwind capabilities? The Hypr Hawaii gun sounds great but but this would gonna blow my budget. Another board that also could fit (board design and budget) ist the Starboard Generation. Any thoughts on it?

Hi folks,
I'm looking pout for my first downwind board. The boards that I like best at the moment are the SIC Bullet and the GONG Perv (both boards in 12'6 * 30). Why 12'6 and not 14? I don't what the boards to be too sluggish because the should also fit a kind of surfing in mushy, windy conditions up to shoulder high. From the descriptions by the manufacturers thy should do quite the same things. The most obvious difference between thes two boards are their volumes. The SIC comes with 280l, the GONG with only 200l. What differences should I expect? The Bullet more for touring/downwinding, the Perv more for Surfing/downwinding?
What are your thoughts (maybe someone out there knows both boards?)? With pleasure I'd like to hear also your considerations concerning the board length.
Cheers Andreas
