I was going to do the race, but the board I had lined up didn't make it. So I ran around Treasure Island shooting the Elite Race. Never could keep up with Slater Trout. That kid just hammered the entire pack. :)

SUP General / Re: GoPro Bloopers?

LOL. I wish i had the video of me last week. Surfing a small wind generated swell with a lot of drift. Started out without a leash on, but quickly got tired of chasing my board down the Beach. So I went and grabbed my leash.Well I rode one all the way to shore, walked to the nose, and jumped off expecting to land gracefully on the sand. That didn't happen. When i got to the linit of the 10ft leash, and still had 2ft of board left to clear, that is when i remembered I was still physicaly attached to the board. And then cartwheeled to the sand in front of a Family of tourists LOL. Thought the GoPro was going, but never saw it in the vids when I reviewed them.
great post though. I will have to loook for a few stills I have from some bloopers :D .

I wish I could have made it over for this event, but I dont have the funds for traveling right now. But my Buddy Christian made it over, and I guess he took 3rd in the 3mile SUP race, even after falling and chasing his board :D. Seriously wish I could have been there.

Found the problem. Fin box was cracked in 2 places. They are replacing the box with a much better one, and going to glass it into the deck, as you suggested Nate. Should have it back this weekend. I miss my babby.

Sessions / SUP demos in St. Pete Beach FL....
« on: March 15, 2008, 04:19:46 AM »
The shop I Surf for, The Surf Shack, has been doing demos every couple of weeks lately. Gettinf quite a few people interested in theese things. He has sold at 4 of them at these demos, and the other shops in the area are scrambling to find SUPs to sell now :D . It is getting very popular around here now. We paddled out to a Beach bar on a Sunday afternoon, there where 3 of us at the start, met up with a friend from a rival (LOL) shop on thier new LAIRD demo board, and paddled up to the Beach Bar. There where 2 other SUP'rs, I have never seen before, on Jimmy Lewis' boards. We had at least half of the Beach goesr riding theese things by the end of the day. A lot of REALY REALY pretty girls, so it made it real difficult to want to stay there..... yeah right  ;) . SUPn is taking over the WORLD   ;D

Surf Shack owners Son, lil Greg, paddling a bunch of the groms around.

Thats it!!! Now I am definatley getting a waterproof camera of some kind. I see things out there all the time, and want to snap pics, but dont have the WP cam yet. I wish I had a waterhousing for my SLR, but they are soooo expensive. I would rather buy another SUP and a cheap point and shoot for that kind of money :) . Nice shots on the Mantas. Marine life is soo cool.

Man, all theese stories of Surfers and SUPs not getting along. I have had no problems at all since I started SUPn. But here on the Gulf Coast of FL we don't get waves very consitantly. So I am mostly out flatwater paddling. But when there are waves,  I have spots, even longboarders won't paddle out to, to SUP on.
But I have to agree with stonaxxe on the issue of taking it to the next level, if someone was rocking me off my board. I mean a quick grab of the guys throat, and S-Q-U-E-E-Z-E a little would change attitudes real fast. I would at least tel the guy, once, to knock it off or things will escelate further. If it continued, well he was warned. I also liked the idea of just taking his board wayyyyy out, Let the little F'r swim for it. That'll give him time to think about his actions HA HA HA.
