Check this out

I'm planning on trying this as soon as we get some decent surf. I've always preferred thrusters but this makes scene to me

Those dimensions sound like a good lay down long board

We need more of this. Few surfers can relate to short board SUP surfing.

Congratulations Creek.

I never got sucked into the foil thing and kept on SUP ING. Still having a ball. I was just discussing the other day with a few of my holdout friends that there seems to be more SUP ers showing up lately and we're more acceptable.

General Discussion / Re: 10' to 7'9" SUP?

I think the biggest difference you'll find is in wave catching,  even if stability is not a problem.  A 10 ft board will glide into waves and you can catch softer waves. With a shorter board, you need to be positioned closer to be taking off at the steepest spot. Also, a shorted board doesn't track as straight as a 10 footer, so your paddle technique is more critical.

Weird handyman jobs and such will command outrageous fees or not get done.

Already here. I spent almost a much money getting someone to install my built-in refrigerator and range than what I paid for the appiances. And I had a very hard time finding some capable and willing to do it right.

price is now $5000 AUD which is about $3,160 USD

Papua New Guinea SUP Surf live aboard boat trips

Hope I'm not out of line posting this but I have been on four outstanding boat trips with Moon Tours and I highly recommend them. Due to some cancellations they have two vacancies for their 10 day trip November 18 thru 27 and offering it at a great discount. The only catch is you have to figure out how to get to PNG. p.s. I've been waiting 3 1/2 years for this trip.

message me if you'd like more information

Gear Talk / Re: New Sunova SP25 report
« on: September 28, 2022, 07:19:00 AM »
Very informative.  I was seriously considering  the sp25 but went with the Placid 8 10 instead.  The higher liters of the sp25 scared me away. I'm very happy with the Placid. It surfs well in small to overhead waves, catches waves easily  and extremely stable.  Does not handle large fast waves, but if I switched it to a quad it might.

I switched to a plastic buckle because my metal on didn't work. I had converted a diving weight belt to a waste harness and a couple of times when I was tumbled in the surf, the clasp would open up. If I could find a better one than my current plastic one,. I'd definitely  switch. Looking at the jayefo on Amazon, I can't get a good look at how it's clasp works.

SUP General / Re: Is Kenalu still in business?

I ordered a new shaft. Monday and it was shipped Tuesday.  I have four kenalus and never broke one. My new shaft is the xtuf because my shoulder needs more flex. Anyone looking for a deal on a used 100% shaft?

Sunova SUP / Re: Sunova FLOW
« on: May 06, 2022, 08:21:17 AM »
It's listed under legends--Casey

They modified the original to make it more high performance. Here's their description: THE NEW, IMPROVED, FLOW 2.0 is a collaborative shape between Marcus Tardrew, Bert Burger and James (Jimmy) Casey. This board has all the original performance features of the Flow built-in, now with a step deck and even thinner rails for more radical performance.

It’s one of the most versatile surf shapes in our range for everyday conditions. Check one out if you want to be ready for anything the ocean throws your way.
