Have you tried running your surrator as a quad + nubster center fin? Thatís how I run my 8í10Ē Surrator and like it a lot.

Unfortunately with the development of the sandbar and a really good right, the area south of the river has become crowded and a more aggressive area to surf. Was in the water this past Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday with shortboards, funboards, longboards, Costco team riders (wave storms), and SUPís. Even though itís a sup area, some surfers were definitely upset that SUPís were there.

Hey guys and gals,

Just wanted to pass on some chatter I overheard from the DoHo guards. Overheard a surfer complaining about foil boarders in the water and the lifeguard said they are trying to figure out some rules/zones. SUPís are already supposed to stay south of the hammer/small jetty. They are considering the same for foils or pushing them even farther south by the Capo reef area. Iím sure everyone has their opinion on it but just wanted to pass on the info for those that foil in that area.

Forgot to mention that Trestles surf outlet in San Clemente has good deals on longsleeve sun shirts also.

I wonder if using some of the newer zinc oxide formulas are better since they seem to stay on top of the skin. Also, for those that live in Southern California, Pelagic in Costa Mesa usually clears out their last year model stuff just after the first of the year. They make great longsleeve sun shirts with armpit ventilation. Itís usually a factory location sale but definitely worth the trip if you buy a few items.

Yeah, the Laird and JL Guns look similar. I like that the JL boards are a bit wider. I donít think staying on the Laird would be an issue when itís clean out but stability might become an issue when it gets lumpy. Determining the right size is rough. The off shore reefs by my house can produce some size but itís not a super steep wave so Iím contemplating the JL 12í so I can have some speed to catch the wave early or if it gets mushy or a section flattens out I will have the speed to carry through. Wish I could demo both boards and different size to make the correct choice.

Thanks for the JL recommendation Area10. The board looks similar to the Laird, just wider, which might be better  The 12í seems like it would be a good option. The 10í6Ē is 1Ē wider than the 12í. Tough decision.
