I have not used the new Hokua, but they have been producing some of their other boards in china for a long time and there is no issues that I can figure out.
The 9'0 hokua is my all time favorite board...as you might see from my profile. I am actually considering getting new one...its between that and the mad dog...ayyyy

Zoo I also had that board. Best board I have ever owned once you hit the wave. I airdropped a few times on that board...made me feel so good, but yeah bumps really got to the board...probably because I got fatter and sank the board.
OP, I think that seems like a fair description. The MD seems to have more rocker. The hokua flattens out more. Not sure if it is me, but either of those boards are great IMO. One of the reasons for liking that 9'0 is all the epic experiences I have had on that board. It also seemed to paddle faster but that might also have to do with the length of the board. Now that said, I did not ride these boards side by side.

Hey so I have been riding these boards to defferent degrees. My all time favorite is the 9'0 hokua for pretty obvious reasons..I have surfed it in pretty much any condition and never been disappointed. Biggest wave I have ridden with it was 18ft. It excels at shoulder high to 12ft. but can definitely surf much smaller waves well too. That said since I am not surfing as much now and my usual spots now are more bumpy I think the wider boards fit me better. The Mad Dog I had was a bit too small for me..it was the 7'10'' so it was a bit hard in bumpy conditions but great on the wave. The bigger versions are better for my riding and weight. I do not mind the wider boards, but the regular ones surf better....just a bit more moving back and forth on the wider.. :-)
Let me know if you have any questions tho.

Same as last time..no information. I was there for over 2 hours...and then gave up. No one knew anything and no live updates.
They could have a great event....but...I think this is mostly for posting marketing videos later. Too bad, because the athletes are truly skilled and daring to go out in those conditions with those boards...

So cool! And reverse direction should actually make for a more exciting on the water portion with the athletes not tired out from the waves until later. If I recall a few years back, you were the one that livestreamed the event for us... still appreciate that! Saw on Red Bull's site that they are delaying the "live broadcast" to start at 2pm whereas the race will start at 10am. They will have Boat, Air and Land views, though. Hopefully it will still be a full broadcast and not over-edited.
haha no worries. It was hard keeping the phone steady. I bet the "delayed live" ie. recording will have way better production value. Last time the race was pretty much over once they got out of the last zag. This time anything can happen now so definitely a good call of them to turn it around. I still have to move a few meetings around, but will try to be there at the end.

I'm not sure if I understand the concern so bear with me (I say this because I have never had an issue with cracking). I also have not gotten a 2020 board yet so there is that, but I am not sure the construction has changed that much?
I would not worry too much, and the MadDog shapes are awesome for the bumpy stuff. I am thinking of getting another one.

This year they have turned the race around...it will be absolutely epic!!! They will start at Crissy and finish at OB.
Forecast right now looks like 3x overhead and wind. So they will paddle against the wind and the tide surge (can be up to 5 knots of current) from Crissy around the point to OB, then zigzag in and out of the waves at OB. Wave forecast is looking like 16ft surf, which can provide some real monster waves at OB even if the wind is blowing 30knots side /onshore. Right now it will come up in the afternoon, but you never really know at OB.
Last competition some of the competitors did not even make it past the first paddle out...it was that hard. Lenny lost because he misjudged the paddle out. Even competitors that are 30 minutes after the lead have a chance in this competition because of the current and waves.
I'm amped. I think I might test it out this afternoon.

Remote breaks was the reason I got into SUP in the first place. Had some super sessions way out and no one around. Glad my leash held up tho otherwise the mile+ swim would have been a PITA. :-) How far out is it?

our fine country, economy, and financial markets are strong and powerful--stronger than any one president or any dominant political party--
I guarantee you it is not. I think we all have to be vigilant and not accept what is going on.

I checked with my insurer, and they said it is covered as long as I am not a professional watersports person.
I have Lemonade and like them.

Wow, that is weird. I just asked my insurer. Will keep you up to date.

I think Trump is a disaster for the US. But I’m hoping he gets in again. Why? Because he’s a political storm, and a storm needs to blow itself out. Those who are voting for him have to see that what he and his ilk are offering is not going to make their lives any better. That is going to take time. If Trump fails at the next election the lesson will not have been learned, and next time around it will be back to square one.
They will not learn. Remember this is a group of people that adust their view of the world to what they are being told it is. They think Trump is the second coming of christ...they will adjust their perception of the world as needed. The anti-dote to Trumps popularity is to call him a fat, bloated ugly, poor, terrible business man and watch him absolutely self implode. The more you'd laugh the worse his self-implosion would get. Beached, what do you know about what I know? I mean you have to be a special kind of disinformed to state that Obama is more deserving of a fascist label, but I suspect Pono is right...it is a fox news kind of knee jerk reaction. I do have to say that supporting Trump after all the shit he has pulled is a disgrace. It truly says something about a person. Pono I would venture to argue that a person can be fascist even if he cannot yet rule 100% like one. Look at everything Trump is saying and doing. Just the way he doctored the stupid hurricane. The most egregious thing isn't that he drew on the hurricane map, it is that he will rather use his organization to threaten someone who does forecasts for a living...and put American lives at risk just to be right in something he is obviously incorrect about. He still bears all the hallmarks of a fascist. He will rule like one given half a chance.

He is a fascist. Trump has malignant narcissistic personality disorder. What is now normal is literally insane. And still, you will find people...even on this forum, that supports him.

Ok guys here is a pitch: Lets just trust each other and state what bags we have. Its all good. Let's make it easy for OP to find his bag.
So I got a bag from a member here (I think) and it was great. I dunno what bag it was tho. :/ I have never used it to travel with airlines so I cannot help with that. I used my thick double board Naish bag to transport 3 boards and it has been fantastic (2 SUP and a surfboard). Though I suspect its a slight tad random since transporting tiny surf boards I added a ton of extra padding on did not go as well. When transporting SUPs add cardboard on nose, rails, and tail. It's just the way to deal with it right. Might have to do with the destination too.

Thx guys. What prices do you see? offer what distance? Is it better to ship multiple boards?
