Hey SUPsurferFl! Chances are you're going to score some waves in october. Crowds are not a problen those days. Bobby from Mar Azul is going to take good care of you, he's a great guy. Later!

Just for the record, in Rincon everyone is just stoked to be SUPing. The accident & the sticker wasn't here. I heard it was north of us.
Life is short, share the stoke!

Aloha

Gear Talk / Re: Feedback on C4 ten footer Sub Vector
December 13, 2009, 06:14:34 AM
I have the 9'3", 9"6' and the 10". For below head high waves, I use the 9'3", head high to double overhead, the 9'6", Over double overhead I go for the 10" or my 12" Jimmy Lewis gun. I really like the drive on the 9'6" and 10". I use Gerry Lopez quads or thurster set. I'm 195# but had my 9"3" when I was 230 and had no problems with it. I'm also waiting on a 9"10" PSH ripper and a 12" PSH gun. Those should be delivered next week. No word on the 10'8" PSH delivery date but it's on my Santa's list. Hope this helps.

Are the sidebites FCS or Futures? Glass or Plastic? I had the same problem with a Starboard when using  FCS composites. I'm using Gerry Lopez thruster set on my 9'6" SubVector. Nice thin foiled fins. I'm 195#. No humming in big waves. They're only available in Futures.

I think it's a great beginners board. I keep one in my quiver as a loaner for my friends. It handles bigger guys like no other board I have used. It makes a great fishing platform also. Surfs ok on smaller waves.

Hola!
A couple of months ago a group of friends, myself included, planned a little standup paddle race. Last saturday over 70 participants competed in the Rincon First Beachboy Standup Paddle Race. We didn't even know there were that many boards in Puerto Rico. We had a lot of fun!
Here is a little clip that MundoRad Tv posted in their website. The first couple of minutes is for Surfers Healing Foundation event on Sunday, shows anoter great thing we can do with our boards. The rest is our race.
I hope you guys enjoy it.

There is also a couple pictures of the event in Facebook, Rincon First Beachboy Stanup Paddle Race

Gear Talk / Re: Pope trisect SUP: WARNING

Pope Trisects on eBay!
Three posted, a new one and two demos.
They need to "make room" for the next container arriving Feb. 15th.
There's a picture showing at least 15 boards stating that they're overstocked.
What do we know!

I named my 10' C4 "Horsey". But now that I think of it I should have name it "Bodacious" from bullriding. At 240# it was hard for me to stay on top of it for more than 8 seconds. 16 months later and 30# less, I tamed the beast!

Gear Talk / Re: Who is using wood paddles ?
December 13, 2008, 05:19:07 AM
I have four 3 carbon and a wooden one that Leleo made me last year. I really like the feel of wood, specially when surfing. It is a work of art and it works great. I haven't use it in big surf because I'm afraid of loosing or breaking it.

Have a Lewis 12' gun. Love it! Very fast. I used it on 14' to 16' surf and I wasn't dissapointed. Holds the lines very well. Tried on smaller surf and this thing moves. The only thing I wish it had sidebites, but I have to admit I haven't need them. It has a great glide so you can use it for cruising. I have several boards and this one is one of my favorites. Works fine for me! I'm 220#.

Quick Blade. I know they offer them as upgrades for their paddles, not sure if they have them available by themselves. I have one and love it.
