A friend of mine uses a nylon belt and attaches the leash to the belt. He has problems with knees and ankles. He is a longboarder and says this also keeps the leash out of his way when moving around on the board.

I am surprised some enterprising person, who likes to travel, hasn't bought a bunch of boards to travel the circuit and rent to would be racers.

SUP General / Re: sup fishing on Animal Planet

Thanks for the heads up. I caught the show last night on the DVR. It was filmed in my childhood backyard. I have fished those places for years and still do from time to time. Lot's of BIG hammerheads in the pass not far from where they were fishing. A local guide caught the world record hammerhead there a few years back. I believe it was around 14 feet and well over 1000 pounds. It dragged him something like 7 miles offshore in a 21 foot boat before he landed it. They had to load it on a boat trailer to take it to a local truck scale to weigh it. Would have preferred to see it released but he did end up giving it to the Mote Marine Lab for research.

Crazy how much money you can spend on Opti parts with zero performance gains. Kind of hard to make a bathtub go any faster but boy the kids (parents) sure try!

Post a link to the website and you'll probably get a few more replies.

Gear Talk / Re: Which (cheap) board for 1st SUP

I have a 10'6" epoxy board, my first board, that I would let go for $450 with paddle. Surfs decent and is great on flatwater for someone your size. Haven't wanted to get rid of it bad enough to post on Craigs list. If you are interested PM me and I'll send some pics. I am located in Orlando. It was a great first board for me.

I couldn't agree more. Why can't they make them look like surfboards? My current board looks hellish where all the paint is chipped or  rubbed off.

I have the O'neil Superfreaks which have served me well. Wear them with tall black socks and a fanny pack and you can look like a tourist at Disney too.
