Awesome poppy I love it!

The summer of ridiculous fun continues here!   A couple of days ago was one of the funnest days of the year for me down here. Tom English and I hooted ourselves hoarse with toasty fun waves. I shot a ton of GoPro and got some great edit advice from Tom. Ran into Boludo on the way up and Tom took great pics of him that I saw on Facebook.

With the low tide today I ran up to Sano. It looked pretty horrible but a guy I passed right after I hit the water face me a good tip. I wound up with a two hour Nukes solo session that was a hoot. Times are great!

If you go with the Simmons, you don't need to add foam since there's so little nose rocker.

That was a very cool read. Those must have been some wild times for sure and I can only imagine what it would have been like to be the first to surf there.

I got to spend the best week of my life there in '90 before the tsunami hit and jacked up the camps. It's hard to explain our even fathom how incredible it is to surf a break where if you only get barreled once and it's for less than five seconds you're kind of disappointed. The wave is that special.

Thanks Headmount I owe you one!

The bottom looks like it might repel sharks! (From the wetsuit thread)  I want one!

The CC honestly looks like one of the funnest boards on earth. I see Tom English on his a lot chasing dolphins then turning for a wave and ripping the bag out of it. When my wife started talking about a board that's what first came to my mind so I could play with it!

The reason more people don't surf with a coil leash is that when it stretches out it has a tendency to "BOING!" back at you at really high speed. It only takes once.

Yesterday was pretty dog-gone fun at Patch. Not big just fun and glassy.  Surfed with Boludo and Giant and just had a blast. Didn't come in till I couldn't stand on the board anymore. So sore today and stuck at work and I hear the waves are even better! Time to edit yesterday' s video.

One of my very favorite places. That vid is from Manu Bay?!? I only got barreled at Indicators which I thought was a much better wave when I was living there in my van.

Tony-my first surgery was 23 years ago after 10 years of surfing. Averaged about one every the years since though I did take s break when I moved to New Mexico for five years.

Rubbing alcohol is a good place to start. Some people like to put a little vinegar in it but I stick with rubbing alcohol.

The bigger issue is why is the water stuck in there?  Hopefully it's just wax so try some bubbly wax remover. Might want to see a doc to see if you have surfer's ear. How long have you been surfing and what's the water like where you surf?

I'm very susceptible to surfer's ear and have had seven surgeries for it. Ear plugs are good but only if they fit right and you wear them all the time. I've tried them all,  and the best by far that I've tried are JBL Hydroseals. These may actually keep me from another surgery. The fit is amazing and you can actually hear wearing them. Give ema try and good luck.

Thanks Creek!

You're right that is the Timsup, aka f---ing Retro, though mine is a few inches longer than Tim's MIA model.  I'm stoked you caught all the footwork since that's what I noticed most when i looked at the video.  I don't realize I'm doing it anymore it just happens when I surf.  All of that movement is what keeps the board from sliding on me, even it larger surf.

That day was pretty typical of what Dogpatch does most of the time, which is just such a soft rolly wave.  The Simmons boards just eat that stuff up as they produce so much speed out of nothing.  I swear I almost never have to pump that board, just bottom turn top turn repeat.  And the harder I push the faster it goes.  You gotta get on one, you'll be amazed!

It was way better than it was supposed to be yesterday.  We did a family day at Sano and it stayed pretty glassy and the waves were way fun.

Unfortunately I've been having back spasms the last week or so but felt obligated to surf four times since it was my birthday.  So I knocked back a flexeril and a tramadol and played with the new GoPro goodies the kids got me.

We stayed down until way dark and I think even with the high tide it was amazing right before dark.

If you want to go from Balboa Island, you can literally park on any street and just launch from there, turn left or right, then stop when you get back to that street. Of course parking isn't always easy there, but in general the father you are away from Marine Ave or the ferry (Agate), the easier it is to park. If you would rather launch off a pier than sand, there's a bunch of public piers at various streets.

There's a beach near the Coast Guard station off of Bayside Dr as well where they launch outriggers but you have to park out on the street not in the parking lot after you drop your board off.

Good luck let me know if you need any help I grew up down there.
