Best of the season for me for sure
Just when you thought it was over, it kept thrownin...and clean up until last nite

Wanna say though...I've spent alot of time doing the subtle sup at a fairly closed spot, and apparently last swell, two yahoos jumped off a sailboat (maybe chartered) , and proceeded to stuff the crew....then got chased out, so .I had to do a little extra to make amends for all you polite supters    Essentially  involved later drops etc so really not a loss..

Taking votes for best of the swells...

I'm giving it to Lorenzo: cleanest/longest duration and least human damage....but of course I couldn't get as much of the others due to work/family stuff

After looking at the two halves of the board, (2012)  I thought the layup could have been better,   and it definitely was a delam first then a  snap

Have owned 20+ (30?idk)  windsurfers different brands...and that was a first 
I liked the shape, finish and ride....

Would I buy a sup I wanted from RRD?  Probably, as the layup is likely different, hopefully resolved and I'm a sucker for board porn...but it would have to be a distinctly different board than others

Not sure how big an RV, but if you can, take the ferry to or from Ocracoke

If I had 1 week in Sept for the Outer Banks, and an RV, and 2 boards, I would spend it in Frisco
Either Frisco Woods, or Frisco Campground.   Have done it on multiple trips except in beater cars or vans, and not in an RV

It would give you access in all directions, and you can surf at your doorstep...and multiple close spots
Waves guaranteed in Sept.

You should watch the weather, and if they say get out...get out early and get inland

Nags head and that area pretty built up and touristy fun, but down below Salvo it gets real slow and folksy

Oh...and if you do do a motel...alot  ARE NOT dog friendly, and often charge a high extra cleaning fee for ticks and fleas   House rentals are better if you decide to go that way....Always had good luck with Outer Beaches Realty

Yeah...Sunday was more from the low that went....I am always more curious about the longer period S Atlantic stealthy swell....not as big as Sunday though..I think we are still in that window.

For Sup, I thought about adding (but did not do) the Kalama forward fin to stabilize paddle yaw

Truthfully, I just want a lighter foil and mast, may move away from slingshot for that reason

That's a big board, and I would therefore put the box forward....probably centered right where you  began the step

my understanding is that you will want your rear foot right over the mast, and is this for sup/sail or both

I think like mine, it'll end up being heavier than you might wish....I would prob leave the nose and tail alone

   As one of the leading online discussion groups of Standup Paddleboarding, we really applaud your healthy-living surfing turkey.
   The Bronco, and the house are very stylish, and the board is really sweet.
 
    We very much agree with the message of a healthy lifesytle, but please understand that encouraging paddleboarding to your target audience really should include wearing a leash.

Especially for novices heading to open water!

Maybe not relevant to most of the builds around here, but really one of the largest reasons for vac-bagging is that strength of the layup is really related to fiber density....Minimum epoxy, but mashing the fibers together thru dense vac bagging with a bleed out of as much epoxy as possible

Have been hanging out with an Americas cup glasser / builder, and some of the parts layups he has shown me are incredibly strong
It's not just starting with good cloth, but a vac process where they are walking along with stethoscopes  to keep the vac really tight...
Prepreg/vac infusion  it's all so cool and yet so hard to do on one board at a time

Again, for us, strength not as big a deal...keeping weight down probably more important, and that  finish looks good... so "what the hey"

Kind of took me too long in life to recognize that the willingness to make mistakes and be comfortable with them is a real  asset....

The Tuttle box gave me fits....Not for alignment, but the board at that point is almost 6" thick, so lining up the bolt holes was a pita.  May not do another tuttle, although that's what i usually run...the prebuilt double A boxes look easier

Laying the wedge of divinycell on was first done with spray on 3M 77, but then the sanding started to lift it, so i started over and had to poxy it down.

The  glasswork was easy...I overbuilt with kevlar tape on the rails.

Paint scheme was intended to do the dorsal/ventral fade of our Great whites, with a fishing lure  fluorescent orange tail as a motivator to keep it flying!

Like most recycling projects, i saved nothing environmentally,  and new build would have been cheaper lighter and easier...but maybe not as fun...buying one off the rack would have been the smartest play

Design parameters have been met...5'10...wide enough to uphaul , and paddle   I plan for it to be a wind wave thing with 60% sail/30% paddle/10 tow

It did come in heavier than i would prefer, but the kids sup weighed too much to begin with

I cut off the tail...flattened the rocker, dropped in boxes, and vac wrapped it in carbon

In part spurred on by this forum, and in part as a foil exploration i converted an old kids sup into Frankenfoil.

Design was for mostly wavefoil sailing / sup....The board was just lying around....now my kids just borrow mine, and that board really was never right for them anyway

   The rack that you can get for the Rad Rover is pretty beefy aluminum, although I'm sure you could build one up.
   With bags and all, I hauled a 112 lb load on it...Duffle.. auto parts/weed wacker etc....Too top heavy and
   750w  underpowered that day, but  I am using it as an island hauler, and again, that rack holds well

   I just had to add my time into the costs,  because although I would have enjoyed the build, at this point with 3 teens it would have just been another project, and I think that if I ever wanted to up the game that the Rover platform would be a good base
