Title: Quality Poach
Post by: Rand on February 01, 2008, 06:33:54 PM
To morph Potter Stewart's line a bit:

I am not sure exactly how to define bad etiquette, but I know it when I see it.  The drop in to shove mid-vid qualifies (ripping aside).

If the kid getting dropped in on pushed Mr Ripper it would have been justified. What a turkey.

How lame is that? RRRRrrrr.... push the wrong guy things could end up bad. I watched a Florida "pro" get smacked with The Club (you know the thing that locks your wheel in your car) in the ribs, his board broken in half and all of his fins stolen by the local pack of bodyboarders because he put his hands on and pushed a guy (the wrong guy) off a wave here at our beach. Push a guy and he may just kick out, push another guy and he may snap- I saw it happen and it wasn't pretty. BTW, the "pro" never came back.

First time I watched that. Pretty rotten and the guy was quite proud of himself.

One of the guys that teaches surfing down at Lahina Breakwall did that recently--he was surfing after a lesson and was dropping in on every wave. A big, pink, soft looking, newbie surfer that he pushed out of a wave waded out, yanked him off his board and gave him a couple of good shots right in the nose. You can probably still spot him in Lahina--he's the one with two black eyes and a big red beak. He's still whining about it to anyone that will listen.

I'm not in favor of violence in the water (let's confine it to the bars, where it belongs) but I definitely thought "good on 'em".

You never know who you're pushing.

That's Ryan Helm who is a pro from Jupiter FL. That guy gets (or takes) every wave down there at the Juno Pier. One of the other videos actually shows him doing SUP for a few seconds. http://blip.tv/file/619918 (http://blip.tv/file/619918)

He's the second guy on the blue board with green rails. Doesn't like to use his paddle much while actually riding... probably saving it to beat down any shoulder hoppers  :D

The guy is a chump and the word pro is so overrated.

Aloha

What a dick that guy is. He is sponsored by Quicksilver and he is setting a BAD example for kids. Kids look up to the pros wherever they are and they should handle the responsibility. If they cant handel it then take away their sponsorship.  Let him try that shit in Hawaii and I bet he goes home in a body bag.  To get respect you have to give respect. Someone should teach that to that punk!
