Yesterday afternoon I got to try my modified foil drive set up for the first time..

What!
Who put the cable inside the mast?
I like the orange box. Seems more durable than the Foil Drive plastic box.
Who did all those mods? Did you start with a Foil Drive kit?
Have I been asleep at my keyboard? How did I miss this story?

Nice, did you get the mount from Jonathan? It looks like the one I'm using.
Dwight, it looks like Faux Drive stuff. There's a small group of people developing them and sharing designs and files in a WhatsApp group. I've been less active in the group recently, but I'm going to be ramping up my efforts over the next few weeks.

Yes Bill.. You hit the nail on the head.. 8)

Nice one DJ, I would like to do similar but my pod is constantly moving up and down the mast depending on use. Hard to have an intergrated mast and moveable pod.
-
That's a clean setup, but I wouldn't want a low pod placement to just use as efoil. I would set pod at 30cm. No problem efoiling and easy transition to foiling with prop free. No way I would want the pod any lower in any conditions I could ride unpowered.

I'm interested. Anyone commercializing this as an alternative to foil drive? Any thought abiut the cost/benefit of recessing the battery into the body of the board? Bill was trying that a while ago.

Love it!!!
Any additional infos please? Any chance to get added on that WhatsApp group? Thanks!

Actually, there's a design that duplicates the Foil Drive functionality with various versions for specific masts. For that matter, you can just drill more screw holes and use the stubby connector. I like the stubby much more than the full pod.
Both of the boards I'm building have batteries inside the board. One is a SIC wing board, the other is a hollow Flying Dutchman. I need to quit screwing around with other stuff and screw around with that stuff. The SIC board has an absurdly powerful drive. I should just build that as a pure eFoil. It will be a rocket. The board on the floor next to it is the Flying Dutchman with a stubby drive.
Hey, if any of you Maui folks see Devin tell her I need her mailing address. the blades on the SIC board are for her.

A mast that has wires running to both ends from the motor.. and also a mast that could be flipped from one end to the other would be nice..
That way you would have the option to use it as an efoil (like mine) or run it like FoilDrive was intended and be used up near the board..
Bill could make this for sure.. 8)

Re this vid?

It not a lake.. It’s a bay.. and it’s a very big bay..
It’s Port Philip Bay and it’s in Melbourne, Australia..
I live about 2 minutes walk to that spot and the conditions can vary so much from wild and surfable to glassy like in my vid..

I've been using my 4'6 37 liter prone with the foil drive and 1300, best no wind almost no swell activity. Also great to start in flat water to practice pump technique.

Exactly the same set up I’m using. The PNG1300 makes flat sessions fun, and a great workout. And being able to cruise sub 70% power makes for a really long pump session, got 50minutes yesterday out of a battery.
