Kind of a horrible release. All of the links on the YT video are broken (and have been for the last 3 weeks). The web site hasn't listed the harness at all until now and now it says sold out of all sizes.

Sorry RE, fail.

No quick release,no plastic hook and too much cloth and padding to dry out quickly IMHO.
Just a cheaper kite harness.

With the manufacturing and materials capability that these brands have it is kind of meh... i wonder if they ever actually wingfoil or listen to their team guys that do.

I would:
-Get rid of most of the padding ,you only need some padding on the sides.Firm EVA better than squishy stuff.Minimize water absorbing materials.
-Panic release, some way of getting the whole thing off ASAP .Like a pull pin for example.
-Individual kite style mini releases for wing&board.
-Option for NSI style plastic  "Flat" hook, i do not need the sliding half plate hook (might be nice for some people) but at least cover it in something that will not ding.
-Quick access Hook knife, for kiters that tangle into you and for fishing nets.I have had bad experiences with both, not fun at all.
-A detachable pouch that fits a cellphone+aquapac would be nice for downwinders.
-Some way to carry a Torx/Allen tool.
-Beer keg?.

It would be great if an impact vest had a harness built in and that impact vest protected your lower abdomen too. Taco falls scare the heck out of me!

Metal hook, plastic buckle, big waistband--no thanks. Nicely made though, but plastic buckles suck.  I started off using the Da Kine maniac hook which has a minimal spreader, but recently switched to NSI and I love it. I've modified my impact vest integration to the Blue Planet belt and reel leash to the point that I'm finally super happy with it. Easy connection to the board even when the wind is nutz. The NSI hook with 2" slot is perfectly situated after about ten tries and a lot of restitching. The NSI hook is extremely easy to use, engages easily, and disengages instantly, every time. it's hard to fault.

Going too minimalist would be bad in my opinion. I often load up my harness very high, almost to the loading of a kite. The better wings get (draft stable) the higher we will all load our harness.

So I applaud forward thinking in harness design.

Tough to find a place with higher loading than the gorge, but to each their own.

I think it looks great. It's like a cummerbund to hide my gut. OK maybe not so much. Pleased to see it has the neoprene and velcro strap to secure it to the body. Not really a fan of wing harnesses with a single piece of webbing warapping around the front like the NSI harness. I bought an XL.

Hiding the gut is minor. My impact vest has abs. Rippling, highly visible, perfect abs. I've considered wearing it all the time.

High wind doesn’t mean high loading. Everyone rides different. From pussies, to driving as hard and fast as possible with the legs, until they buckle. We all chose how hard we load it.

Hey Bill would you mind throwing up a picture of your winging harness thingy setup?

Every harness on the market for the last 30 years has plastic buckles. It’s how they are used, the type, and how placed, that makes them work well. The Ride Engine buckle is just like the harness buckles used for years on older windsurf harnesses.

Jacky has the S winging harness. She thinks its the best harness ever. Like riding with no harness. Doesn’t know it’s even there.

For me, it’s cool that it feels like riding naked. But ripping upwind it crushes my mid section. I need a real windsurf harness for the loading I’m putting into it.

I know Dakine is working on a winging harness. More choice is better!

If more padding and support work better for you then do not change it,of course.

But just to be realistic about this load thing...i have never seen a wingfoiler leaning their body CG out of vertical at anywhere near the angles that  windsurfers, kiters or kitefoilers reach.

Little lean, little load.

I think it is one of the reasons why wingfoiling looks kinda kooky and undramatic.

I can easily wingfoil for +2hours without hooking in at all, i would last about 10 minutes on a windsurf shortboard without a harness.

At my age, improved mobility is a bonus. I’m happy to try every new harness I see that might improve that. We ride direct on shore wind, more than any other. So sessions involve lots of upwind work to earn down wind runs.

Solved my issues. I installed a 6 inch spreader bar. Loving the Ride Engine Wing harness now. Hopefully optional bars become available for everyone.

An even better idea (if Ride Engine sees this) is this

Jacky using the Visual Speed harness. This harness had an very light aluminum spreader bar. Bring back aluminum.  Aluminum went away because kiters broke them jumping. Wingers won’t break them.

I have an old kiting shorts harness that I used for travelling.  Dug it out for winging, works great ... attach reel leash to the rear pull bar. Attach wing leash to the front kite-safety loop.  Has a pocket to store line knife, water, radio, etc.

Looks kooky as hell over my wetsuit, classic kiter fashion.  But I am not winning any coolness awards anyway.  In the tropics, with no wetsuit needed, I think this would be an easy option, shorts and harness in one.
