Title: Naish S26 95L - SUP
Post by: APPST_Paddle on June 10, 2021, 10:25:22 AM
Has anyone SUP foiled the S26 or S25, or frankly any SUP in that 95L range. I'm 175 lb/78kg, and I have a 6'5" 115L Flying-V right now, I love it but I think I could go smaller and gain some performance on the foil.

Any thoughts? Riding mostly mushy, knee to chest-ish east coast inlet waves.

Cool, but I'm guessing 110L to 95L is a big jump (110 is what I have now).

For the sake of not having to type it again - here's a link (https://www.standupzone.com/forum/index.php/topic,37310.msg429244.html#msg429244) - to my impressions of the 2019 model of basically the same board. As noted in my signature line, I weigh 185 lbs for comparison.

Showing up today, I'll report back. The volume to weight ratio has changed a bit, not intentionally, pretty much lost 10 lbs from a stomach flu that's still ongoing so........95L to 168 lbs or so instead of 180 might help.

I struggled to SUP foil the 95. Takes a lot of skill with the exception of the glassiest days. Weight 175lbs for reference. To me, it was more of a struggle than it was worth and days I can use it are limited. Will just keep it around for winging.

Picked up a 6'0 moon buddy 120L and it rides great. Gets flying easy. Really like it.

Have a 5'9 North 117L incoming which can hopefully bridge the gap between the two boards.

Yeah, changed my mind, holding out for the 5'11" JL Flying-V (smaller version of my current board). Just really can't beat JL boards in my opinion.

Folks, received my S26 110L board and it is great for me so far.

I am 160 lbs and the board i learned on is 7'4 106 liters.

The Naish S26 110 Liter is 5'10 and its awesome for winging and stand up paddle surfing at my weight.

One thing i noticed was when I breach the foil and smack (winging) the board recovers really well. I realize this is away shorter board but its also 5 liters more than my 7'4 starboard. I think its the rails and what not.

When I am stand up foiling on it I noticed immediately that I need to be in more of a surfer stance before takeoff. The short length and the current operator, tend to cause it to pearl or wheelie. Its super stable side to side, but when you are dropping or tucking into an explosion or just glassy face, you have to really be on it front to back. once i started doing that it shocked me and picked up to foil behind the wave.. I pumped into the face and then into the wave in front of that one. :)

Swing weight was rad
Winged in on the PNL185 + 14 flip and GL210 + 14 Flip
Surfed it on GL210 and Chopped Maliko tail.

I am stoked on this board and hope the deck pad does not bubble up.
