It doesn't get any bigger than this:

Haley was not the first to SUP Mavericks (that honor goes to board designer Lyle Carlson). Haley has been the dominant SUP'r at Mavericks going into his 2nd decade of over performance.
He texts me pictures like this and then jokes about the situation and the beating:
Beasho Text : "Did you survive that? Sorry..... why are you falling. The board is well trimmed."
Haley: "Some guy got in my way in the drop
I had to avoid him or run him over
Which resulted in the board skipping sideways
I got control of the board skipping sideways
Which resulted in my foot being off-center on the rail
The Avoidance resulted in an airdrop
I landed the AirDrop
When the board sped up I fell backwards when I hit a piece of chop
It was like a chain reaction
Three times I was like “yeah I pulled it” "
This is a view of what 'winning' three times looks like for Haley.

When not getting run over by a 40 footer this is what a ride looks like from above.

Holy buckets, I guess that's what Jeff Clark means about pulling into the pit.

thats alot of water to be hanging over one's head. Hats off to him!!!

Is this "Crow" Haley who made my hand tied big wave waist leashes?
Those were impressive drops.
The guys on the rescue jet skis looked to be in no hurry to go in and see if he was ok.
Cheers

Haley is awesome. Has me thinking of a cat with 900 lives.

Haley is handling the bumps and jumps amazingly well....Yewwwwww!
Hats off to all of you that charge Mavericks!

No. Although we all wear the Crow Haley leashes. You can see the 20 foot length of leash in the picture.
This is Haley Fiske

Beasho thanks for sharing. Absolutely Amazing.
What size board is Haley riding? The wave almost makes the board look too small.
Does Haley make his own 20 ft leash, or does he have it custom made? A 20' leash is on my wish list. Love my Crow Haley waist leash, thanks for the recommendation.

YIKES!! WAY above my paygrade!

11' 6"
An 11' board is almost too small. I prefer my 12 foot Paddle Surf Hawaii. My 10' 6" Paddles Surf Hawaii has NO CHANCE OF CATCHING WAVES. At least for my Cahones level. Haley and another Mavericks SUP monster Ian Wallace ride 11' and 11' 6".
My 12 footer lets me catch waves like this without TOO much risk of dying. This takeoff spot is called 'Dentons Peak'
#DentonsPeak
Haley will catch waves there but he will then be poaching my spot. He can catch them from anywhere - Outer reef, back door the bowl, drop in the bowl, or Dentons. This takeoff only works when it is Medium Big to Big with the right swell.

What looks like a mellow, uncrowded takeoff is nothing but.
Here was the exact same wave above from another angle. 50 guys and total carnage Wipe Out Of the Year style. . . .
But wait I didn't crash :)

Another beastly shot of Haley.
I am not sure how this is going to end.
-
This is awesome to see, especially after seeing other footage of the recent swells online from the usual surfers. Thanks!

NOTE: When Haley paddles out he paddles out by himself on a SUP. No boats taking him out through the lineup. No Jetski assist.
He may get rescued by a friendly 'saftey patrol' when he crashes on a wave but he gets out on his own. Haley said it took 1 hour and 15 minutes to paddle out on December 8th, 2020. That's more than an hour of 8 to 15 feet of whitewater pounding you.
The total distance needed to get from inside the break through the Mushroom or Blackhand reef system safely into the channel is ~300 hundred yards. That amounts to 12 feet per minute.

Amazing. Does he wear any protection (vest, hip, hydration pack, inflation vest)?
