Title: Don't break quarantine...
Post by: Wetstuff on December 21, 2020, 08:14:08 AM
https://www.wsav.com/news/local-news/georgia-news/georgia-college-student-jailed-in-cayman-islands-for-coronavirus-violation/

We got stopped in CR twice ..once on the main hwy I suspect because I had a board atop a rental and we looked like marks or drug suspects.. the other in a town because I drove with my headlights on ..and looked like a mark.  I cannot imagine being thrown in prison in the countries I have visited.

I saw this story last week, and no matter what you think about the virus, you should expect to be thrown in jail if you break the law in a foreign country. How is it she is a pre-med student and can’t follow a simple quarantine?

That's the main reason I am not going to my home in the Grenadines until they lift the 14 day quarantine (first 5 days in a government approved Covid hotel and testing every other day)
With the waves and wind usually firing below my house there is NO way I wouldn't break quarantine, and those St. Vincent prison cells are nothing to joke about.

Silly Teenagers.  Didn't they make a movie about this a long time ago.  Ending up in some foreign prison.

It's all very Darwinian.  No malice intended just bad sh-t happens.

She's still young dumb. Being a pre-med student doesn't automatically translate to common sense, even in the field she's hoping to get into. In 2020 I know doctors who smoke and have substance abuse issues. Go figure.

I think in the long run this will be a good learning experience for her. At the very lease she will never make this mistake again.

On another note, her sentence was reduced to only two months.

Hopefully, she has the stuff to turn this into a rad story by gaining some compassion for those imprisoned. You can put up with a lot of weird, difficult shit when your are 18 years old. At least I could.
