COVID has made it difficult to train in groups so we are starting a series of virtual coaching videos. It you want to be successful in Stand Up Paddle racing (or in life), consistency is key. Jeff Chang and Robert Stehlik have been coaching a weekly training group for over a decade and will share their thoughts on various coaching topics in this new virtual coaching series, this weeks topic: Consistency

Robert - Funny small world story . . .
Does Brad in the video above hang out at Sunset Point? When I was on the North Shore 'Brad' was out every day on a Blue Planet SUP. It was early November. He was very capable in 8 to 14 foot faces. He looked like the Brad in the video if not his twin brother.
I wouldn't say he was friendly but tolerated me on the foil when it was #TooBigToFoil and was 'conversant' with our host (the host did in fact live on Sunset Point).
PS: I love the coaching videos. Far too many people hop on a SUP and try charging in to waves NOT realizing that the key to catching more waves is an efficient stroke. They say part of Kelly Slater's advantage was that he was a better paddler than everyone else.

Hi Beasaho,
Sorry I missed you during your visit. Yes, Brad lives right by Sunset Point so I'm sure it was him.
He seems like a grumpy guy but he's actually really nice once you get to know him.
Thanks and yes, good technique makes a big difference, it's not just about physical conditioning.
Aloha!
