Title: Anyone downwind the Bark Vapor Ghost Carbon ?
Post by: Kip on December 03, 2020, 07:43:02 PM
Found a new 2018 Bark Vapor Ghost Carbon on sale for $1,600 (my other option was a Riviera RP DW demo for $995). Both 14 x 26.

Just wondering what folks experiences are on the Bark. Didn’t even consider until I messaged a member here who gave me some great advice for my DW board. Looks cool! Seems like a good deal. What’s it ride like ? Likes ? Dislikes ?

I remembered some discussion.

From a quick search on "Vapor",  Area 10  posted this (thorough) review:

Separately, it looks like a change has been made to the search function, allowing broader searches.

ps: The Ghost Carbon is at least 3 pounds lighter than the 2017 model reviewed by Area10. Not a big deal fro downwinding but nice in the light stuff.

Yea Luc sent me that ! Good read and much appreciated  8)

Still love to hear other folks experiences as well! Just for fun, if nothing else.

Might just do it to support the local shop - I feel $1600 is a good deal for a new 2018.
When surf tech first put them on sale they were right around $1100 I think, which is nuts,  but I overlooked them. They only have a couple 12’6” Barks left.

Luc and Area 10 both say it’s a rad choice, so I trust that.

Just couldn’t fall in love with my DW dugout board. Maybe when I get better skills in the messy stuff.

I did a SUP race using a similar looking board a long time ago. It was white and orange and was just called the "Bark Downwinder". It had just come out (this was around 2015). It was fine and did the job. Very tough and sturdy like all surftechs. It didn't seem particularly special or better than some other DW boards I was riding like the Blue Planet Carbon Downwinder, or the Laird/Bark 14" Surftech Pro Elite, but it was fine.

Different board teh Vapor is miles better than the the Downwinder which did not last very long one or two years.
