I used to paddle distance like I was training for a race. Head down, watch the GPS, focus on every stroke, and power it out start to finish. Now I paddle with more efficiency, with my head up, taking in life. I also will stop, change course, and even turn around to grab any piece of floating trash I see. If I see it, it gets picked up. I'm keeping the place I love clean. I believe I build Karma points and get randomly rewarded with up close whale sightings or great outside waves. If you see trash while you're surfing or paddling, slow down and pick it up.

Sounds like a great way to go and with the room you have on the unlimited it seems like you'll be generating lots of points :) I went as far as removing the GPS all-together.

Try and do the same. Try and teach the kids too.
Maybe one of the big companies could do a competion. Who ever collects the most rubbish before Christmas wins a board.

I think I mentioned this before, but one time when I was collecting trash on my board along the inside of the harbor jetty, some lady who was passing by in a kayak asked me what I was doing? And was I part of a cleanup group?? :-\ Do I have to been part of a cleanup group to pick up trash ::)

I got a plastic bag and a few cig butts today myself. Think if everyone who went to the beach grabbed a few things.
