Title: Uni Foils are looking pretty good
Post by: Thatspec on November 13, 2020, 06:03:58 AM
Half the time this guy appears to be gliding on nothing. The Hyper 150 is about a 7.6AR, the 190 about 7.8

Wow.. Specs.  There were either a lineup full of piss'd seabirds watching him zip by or a queue that evening at the local foil shop.  What a nice flow that guy has, eh?  ' Reminds me of iceskating.   Compared to some other brands, you do not hear a lot of hype from Uni or SPG...   'must be the time zone.

Holy shit.  That was magic.  I can't imagine looking at that and not wanting to be part of it in some way.

I guess the angle from the drone is making the swell faces look less steep, this guy is really generating a lot of speed though and holding it through some very flat looking water. Unfortunately the tallest mast is 83cm so somewhat limited use for winging.

The 190 looks like it would be super fun for zipping around at my weight (I've no real hope of prone foiling though, maybe towing). Suspect the new Axis stuff will be similar and I already have some of the parts, otherwise I might consider a kit.

Dang! I was going to go the the water, but after watching that my legs are already burning and tired. Think I'll go get back into bed.  ;D

I usually watch about 1/2 of the videos of others doing what I'd want to be doing, because I either get bored or frustrated that I'm sitting instead of doing. But this one had me memorized through its entirety at just how smooth, strong, and always 100% in control he was.

The music was also following along nicely, and I didn't have to exit the whole video because my ears were bleeding or head pounding with some of the heavy metal or freakin' techno mind warp music some of the kids think go along with gliding effortlessly on a foil.

My final take on the excellence of a foil video is whether or not I want to run out and try the gear the featured foiler's on....now I really want to try the Unifoil I've heard so much about, but have never seen in person. Great vid, thanks for posting.

Yeah, pretty nice footage and music (and interesting gear). I had to go back through my history to even figure out where it came from, then found more... is there a motor on that thing?

Wow, the combination of conditions, drone footage, equipment and talent is impressive;

I never paid attention to the name of the rider—too mesmerized by the ride, but you can hear him speak...

Mr Bennett’s is a complete badass.

Absolutely, though a better fitting pair of shorts would probably help with fine pitch control ;D

He's able to blur the line between touching down and flying so well. The wing tip is breaking the surface at high speed pretty often too with no consequences. Back foot is behind the mast consistently, even while pumping. Maybe Uni is heavily pitched negative like Lyft?
