Title: Big board sessions
Post by: burchas on October 27, 2020, 06:54:55 AM
Strong on-shore winds makes for a sucky surf ocean side but super fun big board surf on the other side.

Looks like a good bump chaser. How far forward is the fin box?

Pretty stoked on the board still. The fact that Sunova did such a good job construction wise helps keeping the stoke 8)

Perfect for various bumpy conditions. Fin box @ 29"

Downwinding got me stoked on surfing, one complements the other and it's another great activity when surf is no good.
My partner in crime on the vid spends a lot of time in Jersey and always looks for Downwind partners, I'm pretty sure he'll
be happy to take you on a maiden run, you already know half of the Job ;)

We've found 2 good runs not too far from you. Both ends around Sandy Hook, one ocean side and the other on the bay side.
Just say the word and I'll try to hook you up.

Thanx Burch! That's very cool of you to offer! Buddy of mine here has done a few. He loves it!

Thanks for the stoke.
No downwinders here due to the coast being an inside corner.
So watching one is as close as I can get.

Thanks for watching! Hopefully that corner means a consistent, long point break :)

Very interesting with the fin box forward like that. How does it feel when on the tail, comparatively?

It is very responsive and doesn't require any effort or fancy footwork to facilitate a turn even with a wider base fin. A fin far back takes a lot more effort and results in many missing connections when it comes to short period bumps without a lot of power. (in reference to my Naish Maliko for example)
