I continue to be confused about the utility of the double concave bottom

I was thinking the same thing when I saw the image. I could imagine some lift on touchdown and before foiling. I could also imagine it being like the chined rails to decrease wetted surface area and surface adhesion.... but I am not sure.

Board looks nice ....and JL should know what he is doing (or what people want, anyway).

I recall reading he made a board a long time ago for someone who had asked for a "seaplane float" nose.  The thought being that is another object that wants to break surface tension and leave the water.
