Title: How's the Takuma V100 for a big boy beginner?
Post by: Bulky on September 14, 2020, 12:21:42 PM
Found a pretty good deal locally on a used Takuma V100.  Can't find much on it as it appears to be an older model--other than it's big and pretty good for getting on foil at slow speeds.

I weigh 230 and kinda want to try Wingfoiling.  Anybody have experience with these and have an opinion?

Thanks.

No. Super heavy. Heaps of lift that will try to throw you out of the water. A good deal on a v100 would be sub $250. You still wouldn't want it.

Thanks, Hdip.  Appreciate the solid feedback.

Since you mentioned sub $250, that's certainly the ball park we're in.  Here's the listing for the entire rig.  I'm a big fan of buying used gear to get out on the water, but if it's going to hamper learning then I don't want to bother.  Does seeing this ad change your opinion at all.  Anyone else?

The price is certainly good, but that's one weird looking foil. A 7'6" board will last you a few weeks probably. At your weight a 6'0" X 30+,  130L+ is where you will likely wind up if you are in the same general clumsiness area as I am, but 7'6" is cool for starters.

Yup, it's the foil I thought it was. I owned one, never used it. It's very first generation. Not what you want at all. Used is fine, but that isn't a deal.
