Actually, Quanta is for non-scientist science fans, like Scientific American used to be before it got dumbed down to be more like Popular Mechanics. No, or at least very little, serious math. The articles are understandable and clearly written. You'd do fine. Don't let the title fool you.

Unfortunately without math some explanations become very strange, or at least seem unsupported. Just ignore that, recognize that you're seeing the bottom line without having to do all the accounting.
