During Admin's post on waterstarts within the Slingy highroller thread there's mention of my greatest fear with these wings: waterstarts - on any hull. I could occasionally do a barefoot start on a directional in calm water with a kite, back in the early 2000s, but 100% of the time I was able to accomplish the task with footstraps.
Dwight had a good DIY for making standard, old straps into hooks, but I suspect, from a waterstart standpoint, in lumpy water it is better to be fully in.
REAL put out a pretty long Army video - buried within are some pretty interesting looking straps at about the 47min mark.

There is some really cool stuff in that. Those straps look outstanding. I wish they would do some offset insert strips for the front foot though. A little angle is nice :).

Those are good looking, light cushy footstraps.
So good looking they will start some fights.

I just got a nice long strap from NSI that isn't in their product line but they made it for some guy. They don't use webbing in these straps. It's soft neoprene backed by about a 1/4 inch of hard neoprene. I got chicken and glued webbing to it, but it's going to be a really good front strap. I can crush the crap out of it and it comes right back.

Any name we can call to get some of those straps? I like the long straps.

Actually, I think anyone you get hold of at NSI will take a custom order. The hardware is cool too. I'd shoot a picture but my board is packed for Maui. If we have west winds and a little sun this weekend I'll pull it out and shot some pics, but otherwise your gonna have to wait until the end of next week.

Here's my new front strap. The front drops into the mast track I installed and never used. I can lay it flat or adjust it to any arch height.

These foamies look great! So much simpler and lighter looking than the overlap standard.
