I wonder if they will recognize SUP's.

I have a friend on the committee.  Maybe I can twist his arm.

In honor of this I will post what I thought was one of the prettiest waves caught last year (actually this year).

My surf amigo and Mavericks mentor Dave Westendorf.  He called me and said "I caught the wave of the day on my SUP I hope someone got a picture of it!"

Well, sort of back on, no heats with multiple surfers out at a time, which also means no streaming.  At least that's the way I understand it.  So from a spectator's point of view, there will be no view, other than submitted vids over a period of time.  We kind of get those anyway.  :-\

prize money will incent more surfers/videographers to get there for any worthy swells---so there will be more video of more world-class surfers, at all solid swells---first pass at it, i hope they retain the video for a compilation release after the "season"--piecemeal, there will be more video, but not significantly noticeable--id make popcorn for a two hour watch of best surfers on best waves, over an entire mavericks season
